Finally went to an urgent care place and got a prescription for a greasy ointment to combat my rash. I have gauze pads already, but I don’t have an ace bandage to keep a gauze pad stuck to my arm.

Fortunately, I have ribbons in my box of craft supplies. 😁

Or to erode social trust to the point that we’re not sure if any sentence we read was written by an actual, thinking human. Or if our neighbors are reading sentences written by humans, or if they’re getting their worldview from LLMs… *shudder*
I think it’s pretty clear at this point that one of the main impacts of LLMs is to disrupt thinking: to make it so that far too many people never properly learn how to do it, and then to control the output so there are thoughts that people never learn how to think.

More generally, wherever you are in the world: if you have kids’ toys, books, clothes or anything else in just-about-giftable condition that you were thinking of decluttering some time soon, please do it now, this week ideally, and get them to your local charity shop.
Hey Ottawa folks: I gave some kids' books to Twice Upon a Time and they said they've receved fewer donations than usual for this time of year. So if you have any kids' books in good condition, or time or money to spare, here's the info:

Pill bottle caps w/ countdown timers have vanished from the market, replaced with WiFi-enabled ones that are too complicated to use and probably spy on you, to boot. I need a way to tell you when I last took a Tylenol! It shouldn’t be so complicated.

I had promised my mom one for Hanukah, dammit. 😠

Just a reminder, if anyone is planning to buy wrapping paper: the kind with metallic paint or similar ornamentation isn’t recyclable.

I have had an itchy rash on my arm for 3 days.

It is not hives. (Hives are bigger.)
It is not shingles. (I had the double vax 3 years ago.)

No new foods or cleaning agents, didn’t accidentally take Advil. What the hell is this thing and how do I make it stop?!

Zohran Mamdani doesn’t make me, an American Jew, feel unsafe.

Having the Coast Guard, which falls under the Department of Homeland Security, decide that a swastika isn’t really a symbol of hate? That makes me, an American Jew, feel pretty damn unsafe.

Rereading Robert Lawson’s lovely sunlit children’s book Mr. Wilmer, even though it’s not April (the correct month to reread it, which I have done for decades).

There are new books in this apartment. There are books I haven’t reread in years. Why am I reading a book I’ve already memorized?
