On the lighter side…

As is the custom, on Delaware Day, the day we became the first state to sign the Constitution, we request the other original American colonies pay tribute. Let’s see how our wish list does today:

(1/2) NBC’s Seth Meyers is suffering from an incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). He was viewed last night in an uncontrollable rage, likely due to the fact that his “show” is a Ratings DISASTER. Aside from everything else, Meyers has no talent, and NBC

It’s useful for people of my generation to be reminded that this wasn’t that long ago. Ruby Bridges isn’t just still alive—she’s only 71, not ancient!
65 years ago on Nov. 14, little Ruby Bridges was escorted into an all-white elementary school in New Orleans. Norman Rockwell, renowned for blissful depictions of Americana, did this remarkable painting for Look magazine. Printed as a double page, over-size spread, it's his masterpiece.

Trump: "I want the money to go into an account for people where they buy their own health insurance. It's so good. The insurance will be better. It'll cost less. Everybody is gonna be happy. They're gonna feel like entrepreneurs. They're actually able to go out & negotiate their own insurance"

Sure, lots of things suck right now. But today one of the last remaining Rockford Peaches, Virginia “Jean” Ventura, told us stories from the infancy of professional women’s sports and what a reminder that things can still get better.

You can hear her soon on “Everyone Listens to This Jawn.”

This is especially true for medical care. Virtually any - any - type of cancer was a death sentence. The 5y survival rate for children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 1960 was roughly 14%. Today it is roughly 95%.
It is genuinely hard for most people to grasp how poor the past was.

I'd love to see a piece interviewing Republican voters who were promised the Republicans would enact a lot of conservative priorities and, as a bonus, also release the Epstein Files and now have a reality where Republicans shut down the whole House just to prevent the release of the Epstein Files.
Speaker Johnson is officially keeping the House in recess again next week. This will be the eighth consecutive week the House has been out of session. The chamber hasn't met since Sept. 19. Adelita Grijalva, who was elected on Sept. 23, has not been sworn in.

Justice Jackson didn’t side with Trump: she issued a temporary stay to prevent a rushed ruling that could let presidents exploit shutdowns to bypass Congress. Folks can’t pay these rates. This family is in TX, but it’s happening everywhere. Congress MUST extend the ACA tax credits.
