Do the Dartmouth Square folks think everybody riding Metrolink will take it all the way to the end? That folks will wander around Dublin wondering where to get on until they reach Ranelagh?

I live in (what I think I'm correct in saying is) the most diverse constituency in the whole country - Dublin Central, D1 - *and* I'm old enough to remember what this place was like before significant immigration, and the idea that immigration hasn't been good for this country is fucking laughable

It would be one thing having a "debate" on immigration if people meant they wanted a "debate" based on facts. But what most people seem to mean when they say they want a debate is that is they want us to pretend a bunch of entirely made up bullshit is true.

I am calling upon the people of Ireland to immediately begin construction of a thread on this site about how you or someone you know was roasted for a fashion choice. We need it.

All roasts must have come from Irish people *only*. Please respect this important rule, it makes a difference.

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

There's a great bit where Simon Pegg pulls out a bag with PORTABLE DECOMPRESSION CHAMBER written on it, and Hayley Atwell goes "what's THAT?" It's a fucking portable decompression chamber, you fool. It's written right there! The whole film is like that.
Like, is this worst film I've seen all year? High bar but I think so. The utter terribleness of the writing, the plotting, the absurdity of the tech, the tediousness of the scenes, the editing so bad. The needless complexity but also restating things we haven't forgotten 100 times. It's shit.

I don't know if this is right or not (I doubt it) but it does make me think that more people staying in is the last thing society needs. Between the internet, cost of living and the legacy of lockdown, we have a leaving-the-house crisis that manifests in everything from mental health to politics
Former cinema manager here. Chain cinemas will mostly close and independent cinemas will die out completely in the next couple decades. The costs are just not worth it. It's far too convenient and cheaper to watch films at home.
