I don't think they want women to like them, I think they want the sexual gratification to which they feel entitled without having to make even the slightest effort

OpenAI’s strategy is very clear, it’s trying to get people - especially young people - so reliant on its products intellectually & emotionally (& now sexually!) that going without them becomes unthinkable. And they need signs of that strategy working to keep the funding flowing in

In case you haven't seen it yet, the 2023 film Rye Lane is on the BBC iPlayer and is a total delight

“Copyright growing pains” is one hell of a euphemism for the biggest IP theft in history

I am being intentionally absurd here, so let me be clear: whether AI boosters are true believers or not, they’re part of a philosophical project that sees human thought and labor as simultaneously exploitable and expendable. Their gratification matters more than the lives of writers or performers.

I don't know you stranger, but I really dislike blaming the raising of adults for how those adults choose to behave. It removes their agency imho. The issue here is why we've built a society where adults happily make this choice instead of literally anything else

Also, building a business model based on misogyny is a very bad look and the people who back it need to start thinking hard how closely they want to be associated with this

"I want to get exactly the same reward as what I offer" reward? That's where we're at now?

The world is very big and there's a lot of smoking hot people out here, or at the very least someone whose freak matches your own. All you have to do is have some manners and you'll find everything you could possibly desire

The idea of getting dirty talk from a language learning model is just really embarrassing. I don't understand why it's meant to be impressive to only get erotic fulfilment from a figure of your imagination. That's just pathetic. Who wants to live only inside your own head all the time

Missing from Altman's statement is any mention of how/whether OpenAI plans to put in safeguards to prevent generating CSAM.

Now, more than ever, you have to be a weird little pervert who makes art of questionable quality. You need to be driven crazy by the flesh. Because, as we all learned from Cronenberg's The Fly, the computers are not made crazy by the flesh. They can't do it like us.

My main takeaway from the LFF now that I am over halfway through is that smoking is definitely back in movies

One thing I really liked about Twisters was that Glen Powell was turned on by instead of threatened by the excellence of Daisy Edgar-Jones, and a lot more movies could stand to make this kind of dynamic the centre of their romances

And since so many of you, even some philosophers with massive accounts seem not to understand why doing this is exploitative and problematic, here is one example of this being done to Monroe in life. Of all the people @sciam.bsky.social chose, it’s Marilyn Monroe.

Marilyn Monroe Didn't Actually Pose for the First Issue of 'Playboy'
Founder Hugh Hefner felt an immense connection with the actress, who took the famed nude photos years before the magazine's debut.

In her life, Marilyn Monroe was exploited and abused by so many men.
Studio executives, so many people.
After she died, men continued to exploit her for their pleasure: trying to get themselves buried near/above her.
What your writer did here is obscene, nonconsensual and makes me feel slightly ill

My own experience with dating sites was that when women say they want someone with a good sense of humour they mean someone who will make them laugh. When men say it they mean someone who will make them feel funny.

"giggles by you, witty one liners by me" I can no longer tell you how many times I've cracked a joke and the date has reacted with either stony silence or anger, because me being witty/funny/droll/quick off the mark is a threat to their sense of self. Sometimes they even say so to my pretty face

"looking forward to freer times to pursue more stuff, hopefully with a great sidekick" I've been working on men's refusal to consider having equal partnerships for years and he just tweeted it out
