Finished writing an article about my Dad chasing a stolen train in 1962. Couldn't use a Stuff photo- $60+GST- but found a great photo of a very similar train on Manawatu Heritage that can be used. digitalnz.org/records/4319... Dad chased AB 817 in 1962- this is AB816 in 1964.
Train AB 816
From Palmerston North City Library: AB class engine number 816 in the Palmerston North railway yards.

Got out early for a ride along the Manawatu River path. Calm and sunny to start with and got quite breezy at my halfway point. Glad I could assist myself with the e-bike settings on my return journey.

I’m very happy. Managed to knock over my e-bike and electronic screen seemed kaput. Luckily the bike shop managed to take off a slither of plastic and it all works again. Bike technicians 👍👍👍

Aroha to the community of Bondi Beach and to the victims, survivors, first aiders, first responders, health care professionals. Hate is not the answer. This beautiful image created by a local artist in Brighton Beach Wayne Allen Webb. Christchurch knows what hatred can do - 😥😥😥

Summertime. A full glass of water with ice cubes and a squeeze of lemon. Perfect.

I watched the Highland Pipe Band competition for several hours this morning in the Square. Perfect weather for it. Now home watching the livestream. Amazing who is watching from all across the world even in the middle of their night.

Doing the odd extra park walk at the moment. The pūtangitangi babies all came over for a catch up this evening. Love how they shake like dogs getting out of the water! #nzbirds
The gratuitous duck content won't last much longer, these guys should fledge in the next 3 days. And the wings are ready!

Shane Jones a ‘bully and hypocrite’: Sam Neill fires back over controversial gold mine

“Neill has joined others in strongly criticising Santana Minerals’ huge open-cast mine planned near Cromwell, calling it “toxic” and “an environmental catastrophe”.”

How do I complain to Google? I’m so tired of seeing fake news on the Google search page about Super increases. We get one in April only. These things are scams that trick some elderly people.

I remember when"New Zealand" mentions were cool, funny, positive
It’s very funny to me that countries are trying to pass laws banning teens from social media until they’re older and can “handle it” as if the last decade hasn’t been about watching rich middle aged men nuke their brains on Twitter and then run the USA via shitpost.
Dude. Yes. Alito and Thomas are of course the standout examples, but all of the Republican justices have tells in their writing and their questioning indicating that they are, to varying degrees, marinating their brains in dumb bitch juice

Not only does Google give incorrect answers with Al but on my phone their search page keeps serving up
Bogus articles. Had to assure an elderly lady I volunteer with that the next increase would only come in April.

Going through and rechecking all my Heneberry info before my Ancestry sub runs out in a few weeks. The way I filed things in 2020 is not how I do it now, so I am having to rename all my files before I can begin. @cathyclarke77.bsky.social @mghistorical.com

The need for change is also clear today.

The question today is whether political leaders can articulate a vision for a better future and have a mature discussion with the public about how this will be achieved.

It is a long time since NZ had a goverment anything like that of Savage and Fraser - capable of undertaking gradual, but still transformative, reform and taking the public along with them.
