No not initially. The first contract she got was three months and much less than her usual pay. Her second contract is with her old employer and better than the first. But still not what she used to get.

It was felt throughout the country with intensities exceeding MM 8. The rupture lasted nearly 2 minutes along approximately 180 km on the NE coast. It was the most complex earthquake ever recorded with up to 25 faults rupturing and up to 12 m of fault movement. 11/

After eight months unemployed in Wellington my sister was re-employed as a consultant. In many government departments they laid off too many workers, and couldn't fulfill basic legislative requirements. And many of the younger employees have already left the capital for Australia.
