Here are two that I found from 2023. First goes over from newborn to age six while second goes up to age eighteen. I also included at cheat sheet that goes over general purpose that the vaccines serve, symptoms for what the associated disease has and disease complications.

First year treating myself to the Missouri Star Quilt Company advent calendar and it is SO GOOD. I already have TWO projects to start and opened up a beautiful quilt themed mug today. Most non food advent calendars (and many food) are literally just samples and way overpriced. This one? NOT THAT.

The one good thing about this poaßte breaching containment is that there are many excellent oranges in the comments
My orange boy is perfect; he restores my soul
Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of blue, I fear no evil, for orange is with me
His hiss and his slorp, they comfort me
He prepares a hairball before me in the presence of guests
My cup runneth over. Please take your paw out of my cup

I am disappointed in Pilot. I adore their VPs. I have collected 2 of the raden and a few others. They are SOLID utterly reliable pens built like tanks that I travel with a lot. So I bought the 20th anniversary ed new (gasp) and... It is half the weight of the others & clanks when activated. 😞🤦‍♀️

“So! This is just a nice little reminder that generative AI is shit. Total shit! It scrapes everything we’ve ever written and then can’t even sort through it fast enough to give us a correct answer, all the while burning down the world to lie to us. What a truly nightmarish thing we’ve created!”

Ah yes that time of year when I ask spouse what he wants and he shrugs and goes "olives?" 🙄

Just saw a whole discussion about how "big bottles of perfume aren't worth buying they just go to waste" and... friends perfume lasts, the expiry date is bullshit. I have bottles from 1965. Store your perfume in a dark, dry place (not your bathroom!) and they can last almost forever!

It’s stunning that as a country we tolerate the abduction of children as a matter of policy. This isn’t normal. It’s terrorism.

ICE hides their faces from the public for a reason.
Last week, ICE arrested and separated a father and son after a routine check-in. Six-year-old Yuanxin had just enrolled in the first grade at an elementary school in Astoria. Now he's in custody, alone. ICE won't say where. This cruelty serves no one. It must end.

I have no idea WHY but Facebook has decided that *the* thing I must see in my feed are all the posts from a Black Hikers' group and how they got there I don't know but the posts are delightful so I'm not mad?

Yesterday, not today, was the first day of Advent. Advent is a season of preparation and fasting in solidarity with the poor. (And yes modern culture has absolutely shifted WAY, WAY away from that). Christmas is the 12 days from sundown the 24th to Epiphany on the 6th of Jan. Now shoo.

Ah yes, the season where American Christian hegemony means every "holiday" thing is actually Christmas and also where American Christian culture just tramples all over the actual liturgical season of Advent.

Heard someone say "the 25 days of Christmas" recently and died inside.

Can't speak to Greek but Biblical Hebrew is complicated. It's a vocabulary-poor language and therefore reasonable translations/interpretations can vary wildly because modern English is a vocabulary-rich language. Anybody who says they have *the* correct translation is wrong because there are lots
You can definitely mess this up, but it is 100% the case that the overwhelming majority of churchgoers worldwide have no idea how to read Ancient Greek and Hebrew.

Heck, I went to div school and took multiple semesters of both, and *I* could barely fight my way through a rudimentary translation.
tired of hearing sermons where the Hebrew or Greek is mentioned as some secret revelation the congregation won’t be aware of, about what the reading *actually* means, and it never stands up to basic scrutiny when checked afterwards.

Sometimes the Bible translators have *shock horror* got it right

I love alpaca, its warm and soft and cozy. But wow when you have to (hand) wash it... Wet alpaca had a very different and slightly funky smell quite unlike sheep!

Yes.

Creating a kind of collective psychosis that probably mirrors some of the individual cases of “AI psychosis”
one insidious thing about gen AI is it's not just causing us to mistrust dodgy images, it's also making us mistrust images that look perfectly normal. this is gaslighting in a very literal sense bc the technology is undermining the trust we have in our own ability to perceive reality!

Listen, are slip dresses fine and dandy? Yes. But I want to buy a long silk SLIP to go UNDER a dress and it is basically impossible to find bc of the damn dresses??? (Also I suspect this is proof I'm old cause I bet the young kids do not wear slips).

I only light all the big pillars in the fireplace for holidays and the critters are always INTRIGUED (hearthstone is cracked so can't use it for an actual fire. But enough pillars is very fun.)

Cultural differences are so interesting. Back home if dinner was at 4 everyone was there by 2 to help cook. The kitchen was full, the host was mostly the coach orchestrating the whole thing. Here if I say dinner is at 4 folks show up ... at 4! I do prefer the communal cooking. That's the holiday!

Do you want to make the yummiest, most buttery rolls ever? I give you my great-great aunt Gay McBeth's (is that not the best name?) Butter Egg rolls. As written out by my mother. They are saturated w butter and so good. Grandma rolled a bit of chocolate into them randomly as a surprise.

It has been floated at my practice as "it'll teach you how to write great notes!" No it won't, you aren't writing ANYTHING. You are learning how to edit what AI writes. You do not learn to write by having someone else write for you. The definition of practice is being shit & doing it anyway.
I find it appalling that therapists are even using AI for their notes and emails.
If AI scribes are used in practice settings, no transcript nor recording should be stored or accessible to anyone after the appointment. The privacy risks are way too big for this to be a point of compromise. Companies like mdhub.ai and Therapy Notes need to be very tightly regulated and audited.

My spicy Thanksgiving opinion is that I do not like pumpkin pie, no not your recipe either. It's the texture I absolutely cannot with the texture. I love custard pies and pumpkin ruins them. More for y'all, I'm having coconut cream.
