This sums up my position, though I was only born in 1961.
Macmillanite, Keynesian, mixed economy... centre-right in the '60s, far-left now.

Letter from Dr Stephen Watkins; Text as follows:

In 1962 I was a Conservative. I believed privilege could only be justified by service, high taxes on very high incomes were necessary to prevent an entrepreneurial economy becoming a rentier economy, and Keynesian growth would finance public service improvements and a welfare state that steadily reduced inequality. I was suspicious of ideologically driven, large-scale change. These were the mainstream policies of the Macmillan government at the time. In 60 years I have moved from centre right to hard left without changing my opinions.

Strong turnout in Day 1 of early voting in New York City, with 79,409 votes cast.

Compared to the first day of early voting in *BOTH* 2021 and 2024, a higher share of the vote came from Manhattan & Queens; a lower share of the vote came in Staten Island and the Bronx.

Very revealing that several Germans have got in touch to say that their chancellor’s comments about migrants were not directed at me. First of all, that would imply I shouldn’t care. Secondly, to imply that non-white races are inherently more likely to commit crime is an attack on *all* migrants.

Radio 4 has just got two negative stories in about Scotland in about 15 minutes. Totally random and this seems to be happening oot of the blue whilst nothing about England, Wales, or NI.
