Finally, if you have had a claim denied... I'm just really sorry to hear that, and it isn't fair, and I hope you are doing as well as possible. Our insurance system is cruel and evil and that shouldn't have happened to you.

They keep track of all this. It wont be long before you are flagged as a serious pain in the ass, and eventually they might approve your claim just to keep you from tying up resources and because they are sick of talking to you.

...my understanding is that many states
require denials be approved by drs. with relevant speciality licensing, which is $$$, and that insurance companies often use cheaper labor for this. So the demand can be enough to get approval, b/c it is cheaper for the company than getting busted

In addition to this, I strongly encourage anyone who has been denied a claim to:

1) demand, on the phone and in writing, ther the name, license number, and specialty status of the physician who approved the denial be sent to you in writing.

I'm all for resource allocation, but it doesn't have to be a zero-sum game. At the local level, at least, it can sometimes work to show that moving people with the right skills into those roles saves money for the city, has better outcomes, and is safer for the cops

Okay. Personally, I want significant across the board cuts to police budgets whether or not the funds are reallocated. Is that what you mean? I have no idea. But I'm not part of the "we" you refer to, and you don't think it is "necessary" to explain, so I guess we don't have anything to talk about

Sure. I'm not disagreeing with you about that. And I understand that persuasion was/is not the goal. All I'm saying is that if it's a demand, and one used in political rhetoric, and you have to explain it to people then it isn't an effective one
