I herd photons and electrons. Now-retired electrical engineer from the National Security Agency (NSA). Background in technical security.
As I suggested before, first hold an immigration swearing in ceremony, preferably with everyone who was abducted by ICE / CBP and shipped overseas.
Once the ceremony is over, hand the new Americans picks and axes and tell them to go at it.
Finish with an all-immigrant (preferably Latino) company.
If they ever get around to building this thing, it should be bulldozed on Day 1 of a new administration. No messing around, no hemming and hawing about procedure or costs. Order heavy equipment in and start knocking it down immediately, as surely as an overthrown tyrant's statues would be torn down.
Even the architect Trump hired to build his massive addition to the White House objects to the president's vision. The two have argued about the size of the 90,000-sq-foot project that would dwarf the mansion. @jonathanreports.bsky.social @ddiamond.bsky.social www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

If you hold a sharp object to my throat, it's assault. If the object touches me, it's assault and battery. If you draw blood, it's assault and battery with intent to kill.
If I do any of those things to myself, it's called shaving.

Shout-out to these kids in Pendleton, Indiana, who chased after the Google Earth Streetview camera car.
You've been immortalized, my friends. Your work was not in vain.

I'm old.

If you're not, listen to this.

Get a guitar or some drums, or a trumpet. Pick up a brush, a pencil, some clay or a welder.

Just make shit. It doesn't have to be good (eventually it will be) just make music, art or write or whatever.

It's literally never been more important.

As a person steeped in all-things-RF, this is dead spot on. 👏
The day I put together how QAM worked in Wi-Fi, and what it meant for data rates, was the day that convinced me that Wi-Fi is akin to messing with an elder god's rituals.

None of this shit should work at all, but it does, and that feels like a devil's bargain was struck.

The wife asked me to shake a can of condensed milk for a pie she's making.
So I did. To the tune of "Sway" by Rosemary Clooney and the Perez Prado Orchestra.
The can was completely clean when she emptied it. Which means I did a good job of shaking it.
It's the small things.

Please. Pretty please.
With, like, sugar on top.
I should really write a lecture or a conference presentation about this

For no particular reason, I'm one of those OCD (borderline CDO) people who tracks every cost of my vehicle. Including gas. This chart shows how much I've paid per gallon for the two cars I've owned since 2004. This should give you an idea of how this cost has changed over time.

For those of you who are into the "Revolutionary War" series by Ken Burns on @pbs.org, I *highly* recommend the historical blog "Boston 1775" (boston1775.blogspot.com) by JL Bell. Bell has blogged *every day* since 2006, all on topics related to this time period.

I refuse to say "GOP". That stands for "Grand Old Party". And unless we all agree that the "G" now stands for "Grotesque", "Ghoulish", "Ghastly", "Greedy", or something similar, they're now the "SOP" (Shitty Old Party).
As in, "Did you see what the SOP did now?"
"Yes, it's SOP."

What's my personal trigger? Textbooks that use phrases such as "it's obvious that", "it's clearly seen", or "it's easy to see that". If it was "obvious / clear / easy to see", we wouldn't need your *%*&ing textbook.
You will see this material again.

From the picture alone you know Gary was worth every penny.
Amazing, no notes, I do not desire to learn anything else about this story, for it would only detract from the perfection on this headline.

As someone who had a TS//SCI clearance for almost 4 decades, fuck the poly.
The FBI has recently used polygraph tests to ask senior employees if they have said anything negative about FBI Director Kash Patel or had spoken to the media.

Separately, Patel granted waivers to Deputy Director Dan Bongino and two other staffers, exempting them from passing polygraph exams.

As someone who took this same course in the late 80s, can confirm. It was awesome!
Source is a "History of Indiana" course I took at Purdue in the 90's that broadened my horizons more than I could have imagined. It introduced me to Kurt Vonnegut, Booth Tarkington, Jean Shepard and more!
