A woodland view on an overcast September day in Aros Park near Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, Inner Hebrides, Scotland. It is a shot taken with a long exposure to accentuate the power of the river. A river (the Aros Burn) in full spate runs between tall green trees. The peat brown water tumbles over rocks on its way downstream. It is a very shady place with green moss on the riverbank and rocks.

​Orion climbed high as night deepened. I targeted Alnitak on Orion's belt with my telescope to capture photons from the surrounding Flame and Horsehead Nebulae.
​The Horsehead Nebula, shown to me in a book by my dad when I was young, remains my true inspiration.

The flame nebula to the top is 1350 lightyears away. The brightest star here is Alnitak of Orions belt, it is a Blue supergiant with 2 other stars in close orbit and is 1260 lightyears away. Underneath in a veil of red, stretching a vast 3.5 lightyears, is the beautiful horsehead nebula. And is furthest away at a nice 1375 lightyears from Earth.

You are looking down into a gorge from above. A dark blue, flowing stream winds its way through the snow-covered rocks at the bottom of the gorge.
