oh cool, another tremendously great decision by the guy who owns the company that fired Alan Sepinwall & drove away from Variety myself & so many excellent industry reporters. Never change, PMC failson in chief!

I note that the Roman Emperor Vespasian made himself immensely popular by completely burying Nero's Golden Palace and building the Colosseum and public gardens on top of it. He was also known for being able to laugh at himself.
Free 100% winning message for any Democratic presidential candidate:

“I will undo literally everything that asshole did, as quickly as possible, and prosecute the hell out of his accomplices. And him however and wherever we can.

Minute one: we bulldoze the old man’s stupid ballroom.”

WINNER.

“What do you mean it’s on the record? It’s on Signal with disappearing messages” is the journalism equivalent of “How can I be out of money? I still have loads of checks left”.

also look at what Penske is doing to the industry right now. buying up everything he can, shuttering legacy outlets, demanding people coming back into the office, laying off people who can't or won't move their lives across the country.

that company is a vulture.
I guess I just feel like it should be a bigger deal that Penske Media owns the Golden Globes and ALSO Rolling Stone, Variety, Hollywood Reporter, Indiewire, GoldDerby, and Deadline, plus 20% of Vox Media

While we spectate on The East Wing being torn down, it isn’t just another hallway, it’s where Eleanor Roosevelt built the modern Office of the First Lady, where WWII bunkers were hidden, and where the public enters the People’s House. Erasing it is rewriting history.

I like the scene where they beat Pennywise by all yelling “YOU’RE JUST A CLOWN” like it’s a slur or something. I’m pretty sure he knows he’s a clown
It and It Chapter 2: exhausting towers of nothing, in which every change made to the source material obscures the original's power and intent. The anti-Terror. I'm kind of in shock

Been wrong before but demolishing part of the White House while prices rise, the government is shut down, and health premiums are about to go through the roof? Might break through

The next president has to tear the goddamn thing down. I am not kidding. Use private money. It can be found. Make a show of it.

It’s kind of wild that after seven million people were in the streets protesting, the president posted a hallucinated video of himself wearing a crown and shitting on Americans and then proceeded to start demolishing parts of the White House

Right? I think we need to get in the habit of thinking of him and his maladministration as arsonists. That burning anything and everything is their reason for existing, and to give them not a single atom of benefit of the doubt.

"blockingiscowardly" was fun to block today.

No good comes from engaging with MAGA accounts on Bluesky. They're here to argue. Blocking deprives them of their reason for being and makes them more unhappy than anything else you could do.

Block AF. Cut off their lifeblood. Ya know, if ya want

Ludicrous take to say nobody misses the video store. Going to my local video store as a teenager was so fucking good. They had a five movies for five days for five dollars deal that was pretty much the greatest thing ever and a super stoned clerk who had seen every movie known to man

After I came home yesterday to these messages on my desktop, Backblaze and Ashley’s kind guidance got me going on my laptop. $8.25/month is the cheapest work insurance you’ll ever buy.

Old enough to remember how legacy press mythologized the “grass-roots” Tea Partiers, and also remembering the Tea Party movement was funded by the Koch brothers
Here's a gift link to the New York Times' coverage of the initial Tea Party rallies in April 2009 which inspired the media to treat it like a massive movement.

Check out how tiny the crowds were:

Philly: 200
DC: "several hundred"
Boston: 500
Austin: 1,000
Houston: 2,000
