🧵that tells you a bit about how I think (👋 new followers). I used to review healthcare experiences gone wrong for a living. Research and critical thought inform my decisions but with the ever present reality I can be (and will be) wrong at times.
3 things better than wastewater tracking for predicting yet another wave in our ongoing pandemic:
1) Articles show up (again) announcing that nasal vaccines are just around the corner.
2) The bad reviews for Yankee Candles or tasteless restaurant food (no one can smell them) increase. And…
I spoke to the people who continue to shape their lives around avoiding Covid and only breathing ‘clean’ air

‘Refusing to mask during an ongoing pandemic is absolutely violent and it’s undeniably participating in social murder.’

These bake-sale proceed ‘investments’ will be wiped out with the exemptions to environmental laws the government will extend to the oil industry for the new energy deal with Alberta. These water protection projects are valid and important but it’s environmental theatre on the gov’ts part.

Since mobility aids are the theme of the day:

You don't need any excuse to use one. Cane, crutches (heavily recommend forearm), wheelchair, etc. There is no minimum amount of discomfort or disability required.

By the time you think you need a mobility aid, you often have needed it for a while.

Game the system —FFS. They’ve specifically removed seating and kettle flyers in narrow hallways for hours to stand and await boarding. They’ve designed airports to maximize security theatre and commercial, rather than human, interests. 1/
Before MS took my dad's mobility completely, he'd get fatigued and spastic walking long distances, like in an airport. Fuck all the way off with ableist, fascist bullshit.

This EXACTLY why it's crucial to have the proposed revisions to CSA Standard Z94.4 (Selection, use, and care of respirators) accepted and adopted. It covers ALL industries.

Healthcare workers must NOT continue to be exempt from the same protections offered in other sectors!

The problem with debates and town halls is that those formats are simulacra of combat with winners and losers. Actually talking with each other involves a desire on both sides to arrive at mutually agreed upon ways forward. 1/
CNN has a show with a similar line. That the problem with this country is we just aren’t talking to each other.

And not only that, she was also repeating the same mistakes before the ink was even dry on the report of the SARS Commission.

Apparently there was a skit put on at an infection control conference mocking Justice Campbell around the time of his death. I'd love to have more details on that.
She was also the lead author on the Seven Oaks whitewash that demonstrated so little learning from SARS that Justice Campbell wrote an extra section of the SARS Commission report explaining why it was crap *while he was dying of cancer*.

It can’t even be called a mistake. The original SARS commission in Ontario (2004) gave the likes of DBH every opportunity to learn from their mistake. If you not only don’t own a mistake that was painstakingly and clearly called out to you, but you do it again, that’s probably closer to malice.
And if anyone thinks we can trust this group to learn from their mistakes on their own, check their egos at the door, start listening to experts and change course without the hard questions...

I'll wait.

I just saw one of those creative photos from pandemic early days when people were dressing up as old master paintings. I miss when it seemed possible that despite existential threats uncertainty and loss that we would try to protect each other and relish the best of what humans can be and do.
