“Facts are not repealed by a refusal to face them.” —William Catton.
Not to mention the use of her position to run and publish studies utterly devoid of due ethical review and oversight. All the LifeLab bloods? The kids? An FOI on the cost and communications to/from the PR firm hired and the PHO would be ugly I’m sure.

Propaganda is a bitch.

They have to remind people who are starting to feel that there’s got to be a better way than being sick constantly, that they would join the ranks of the quirky, the uneducated, the marginalized and the shunned were they to start protecting themselves from infection. 4/

The writers of these articles are directed by their media owners to deliver a salve piece for the rising anxiety zeitgeist. Whenever the public at large starts to express exasperation, frustration, concern (why is everyone sick constantly?) the elite will always panic. 3/

3) Articles show up on people who mask today as fringe oddities akin to any piece on bog snorkellers, detectorists, cosplay mermaids, or Elvis impersonators. And articles also show up on new “mysterious” sore throats and fatigue and how to rest up and drink plenty of fluids to recover. 2/

It is plagiarism. It is copyright infringement and photographers have successfully sued artists who copy the photo in their artistic style. Unless of course the artist themselves took the reference photo obviously - then that’s just part of the artistic process.

And another thing: anyone willing to allow their grievances to be weaponized by the fascists in this of all moments is decidedly not someone to be taken at face value.

I expect the real issue is wheelchairs and strollers in airports are interfering with profits so they want to ban them or limit their availability or use. That‘ll be easier to do if people just absorb this kind of propaganda as a reflection of reality. Gaming the system indeed.

This article exists to misdirect people’s sense of misery and helplessness at an airport towards those who need wheelchairs and strollers to navigate the hell rather than reveal the actual motivation for poking the propensity humans have for fairness outrage. 2/

Debates are heavily used by the right (Charlie Kirk for example) in the same way: the pause while you speak is faux signalling “I’m truly evaluating the merits of your position.” Any good debater knows that the pause is to listen for the holes to shoot winning counterpoints through. End.

I just learned the term “grass washing” (@mark-ungrin.bsky.social) - a great term for town halls that look as though it’s grass roots “listening” when it’s really curated Q&A to have those in the hot seat look good. 2/

And not only that, she was also repeating the same mistakes before the ink was even dry on the report of the SARS Commission.

Apparently there was a skit put on at an infection control conference mocking Justice Campbell around the time of his death. I'd love to have more details on that.
She was also the lead author on the Seven Oaks whitewash that demonstrated so little learning from SARS that Justice Campbell wrote an extra section of the SARS Commission report explaining why it was crap *while he was dying of cancer*.

Social media companies attempt to detect and remove this type of astroturfing for violating their inauthentic behavior policies, which is why Doublespeed uses a bank of phones to emulate the behavior of real users.
