I love how literal an author bio can be: you can trace a life through the sequence

"Greg is an author from Perth, now based in Melbourne"
"Greg lives in Melbourne with his cat Bruce"
"Greg lives in Trentham with his husband & their small daughter"
"Fran grew up in regional Victoria with her dads"

Wong can get tf down off that high horse, considering that as Foreign Minister, she refuses to sanction lsraeI for its genocide of PaIestinians – a failure of moral leadership (as well as international legal obligation) that has only emboldened racists like Hanson and Babet
Penny Wong spks of a 7yr old girl who after Pauline Hanson’s racist stunt, asked her mum “do all Christians hate Muslims?”
Ralph Babet interjects “I do!”
Not just a racist, an openly hateful one too. Our parliament is a clown show of filth.
Wong “And we see it again” Yup #Senate

Israel has violated the U.S.-brokered Gaza ceasefire nearly 500 times in 44 days—killing 342 civilians, including children, women, and the elderly.

That's more than 11 violations every single day.

The genocide never stopped. Palestinians are still being killed.

I bought some ‘keto meal replacement’ powder from Cheaper Buy Miles (for $8; costs $25 at Woolworths) and just decided to try some. My god! I was expecting a shake like other protein powders I have tried, but this is like a pudding. They need to warn people about the viscous texture

I have two things I would really like people to internalize about the fashion industry/garment manufacturing, and they are:

1. Mass manufactured clothes are only ever intended to fit "good enough," and;

2. Everything you wear was made by actual human people.

Yesterday I was listening to the 2007 Yeasayer song ‘2080’ & realised I’d been singing a mondegreen all this time

Real lyrics: “Yeah, you can have 21 sons and be blood when they marry my daughters”

My lyrics: “Yeah, you can have 21 cents in your bag in American dollars”

Insane but true fact: making US roads as safe as Canadian, Australian, or European roads would save more lives than eliminating murder from the US.

It always annoys me when fictional character names feel gimmicky, seemingly chosen to sound cool or pretty like a pet's name, for heavy-handed thematic meaning, or to make an in-joke over the character's head, rather than revealing the character's own family, history or culture

Gmail constantly pushes its AI on me by making the word "Polish" hover near the text as I'm writing an email

this never fails to confuse me as for a split second I always think it's offering to translate the email into Polish

Macquarie University used to have a cool webpage on 'ethnocultural' AU accents with embedded audio clips of speakers from different cultural backgrounds, but they've taken the page down now & the archived version doesn't preserve the audio
I don't want to fall into a research rabbit hole on this, but the AU 'ethnocultural' accent is def influencing younger AU speakers the same way MLE is; in the '70s–'90s it was called the 'wog' accent but now it incorporates SW Asian, African, Māori & Pasifika influences

And I like it too!
