The idea that Joan Rivers would create an exercise video built around shopping is just my kind of cheeseball content.

I just looked. Yes, there appears to be video on YouTube.

This @snazzylabs.com gift roundup is a rare thing for a holiday gift roundup: Entertaining.

There are numerous objects in this roundup that I didn’t know existed. If I end up buying 100 magnetic cable ties it’s his fault.

So there are ~2,100 National Guard forces deployed to DC, including District-specific guard and other states. Hegseth said he's ordering 500 more to join (despite a district judge last week calling the deployment illegal). How many cops will be tasked with guarding the patrols?

The National Guard now needs security detail. Maybe send them home instead?

D.C. police to begin patrolling with National Guard after fatal attack
If enacted on a long-term basis, the change would significantly shift the way National Guard troops have worked with law enforcement in the District since their arrival.

Some gaming history for your Thanksgiving week.

In the early 1990s, programmers writing online games for BBSes faced a LOT of constraints, from slow modems to extremely limited sound and graphics.

How did they work around those limitations?

Prediction: Some will seize on the shooting to try to pull Dems back to a position of cowardice on Trump's deportations, and Stephen Miller will scam dimwit commentators into making this case as well, but what happened ultimately won't dent public disapproval of the raids/arrests in the slightest.

Sometimes, diving into the history of an object allows you to lean into the natural cultural tension it has. With that in mind, I give you the Ovation guitar.

For folks not familiar with D.C., here’s how close it was. This area is sort of office building central, in an area packed with professionals. It’s also within a block of two separate Metro stops.

If you have professional friends who work in D.C. there’s a chance they work near here.

So using Affinity & Wine for some actual work, and have noticed a few things:

- Performance starts struggling (at least on my laptop with an Intel dGPU) when you throw some big files at that
- Installing OpenCL is a fix, but I found it unstable when I set that up.
