Democrats need to understand that Walz is betraying his own voters because Trump and Republicans give him more reason to be scared of drawing their ire than he does the ire of his own voters. This is a lesson all Democrats need to internalize and rectify.
This is a video today in Minneapolis of DoT snowplows blocking access to the Whipple Building to deter protestors from going there. An ambulance tries to get through to help people injured by MN State police and it can’t.

One of the most sickening realizations I've ever had came when it hit me that six hundred years from now historians will be writing things like "while technically illegal, intercourse with minors was broadly accepted as normal among the American ruling class, and even a marker of status"

LRT I genuinely feel like love, including parental love, is a lot rarer than people imagine, and I think the reason for that is people think love is a phenomenon that happens when it's actually an action and a choice you make to keep taking that action

This is bleak: Jes Staley, currently CEO of Barclays, reassuring Epstein that popular revolt against financial elites is unlikely because capitalism and pop culture have defanged social movements, leaving people more invested in consumption than justice.

Disabled folks get a real chance to participate in society via social media. Now imagine being a young disabled person? Or a queer kid in a place where it isn't the physical space to show your true self.

I have pointed out to some older people that if you take away the funding/spaces for youth clubs and the like, you can't be surprised they try and find some place to hang out and mingle.

I have told a few MPs this. I genuinely feel a lot of adults hate the existence and needs of young people. Then they act surprised/bewildered that these kids are anxious/depressed.
Kids can't hang out in parks. They can't hang out at the mall. They don't have 3rd spaces because no one wants kids around and then we are surprised when they rely on SM for connection.
If you take that away, what do they have left?

The impacts of locking under 16 yos from their social media networks are now beginning to bite for those young people who relied on them for social connection

It's hard to overstate the degree to which the general public is being lied to about trans people
Alex Massie trumped up a fake campaign in the times to claim hundreds of rape convictions for women in the justice system were actually trans women despite the numbers covering several hundred more convictions than there are trans women in prison for any crime.
To understand how much Alex Massie actually cares about women's safety: when I called out his transphobe-in-arms Nick Cohen for multiple acts of sexual misconduct against cis women, which eventually got him sacked, Massie went berserk at me.

Transphobia is a men's rights movement in drag.

This is a trick science and especially medicine has pulled for centuries. Claiming that black people do not feel pain so much. Claiming that women don't feel pain getting cervical biopsies despite the cervix being fully enervated. Claiming that any dissent is just hysteria.

Their consistent pattern has been to paint us as melodramatic, as glorifying suicide as political blackmail, of ourselves not caring whether our young trans people live or die.

Of using spurious research to outright deny harms and cultivate a view of reality where we're not suffering.

I say intentionally or unintentionally and I get people commenting on posts all the time saying "these weren't suicides, they murdered those kids"

But the political authorities of our day genuinely believe they are doing good by withdrawing care and instead insulate themselves from trans suffering
I founded Trans Safety Network on the basis that one of the key things we needed to do under the anti trans backlash was document and highlight the organisation of harm occurring to trans people. Understanding that such harm is the product of organised powers whether intentionally or unintentionally

The police work with ICE in almost every instance.

Tbh my views on this are informed by the history of struggle over abortion: specifically anti abortion actors consistently value literally anything they can grasp as a justification for control of women's bodies, over pregnant people's bodily autonomy.
Great thread. It echoes discussions 30-40 years ago on abortion - idea few people wanted a full ban, but many had "reasonable concerns" about safety, lax regulation, late TOPs, use as contraception, etc. so should be heard.

Nope. Aim was still restricting access. Outcomes matter. Intentions don't.

Look I'm not saying you have to like five year olds throwing a tantrum in the grocery store but if you stop to take a serious look it's impossible to deny that minors are an oppressed class.

In the US children can forcibly have their organs harvested to donate to another child.

I'm seeing positivity for Jon Ossoff on the timeline so I just want to remind everyone that he is the only Democrat to break ranks and vote against a Biden federal judge appointment.

He did it because the judge had moved a trans woman that was being raped in men's prison to a women's prison.
