I met a roomful at once, at The Center in New York. A room full of kind men who helped me work out my own issues and let me care for and help them.

It was a second, more hopeful, adolescence.

The first trans person I've met was the kindest person I've ever known. When she was homeless she traded her jacket - a very good quality and cute jacket she loved - with a younger homeless kid whose jacket was too small, ratty, and had holes. She figured she would just mend it.
