The global network of the radical right is a threat to our democracy. 🚨

@libdemdaisy.bsky.social on Musk and Tommy Robinson: "It is outrageous that a man who has so much control over what people read online could be funding someone who stokes far right extremism on our streets."

This scene from The Godfather 2 is quite possibly one of the greatest film scenes of all time.

Al even terrifies me, but Diane wins it. ❤️‍🩹

Right. Choir/classical music nerds, this is for you. Everyone else, you’re dismissed.

A very deep cut: Do any of you know of a recording of Haydn’s Creation that uses as the text the Michael Pilkington Novello edition (i.e New Novello, not old Novello). For the life of me I cannot find one.

All the hostages have been released. It's incredible, and we need to celebrate.

Now, let's take a moment to thank the President who brought the most of them home.

Stephen Colbert, once again showing why the regime had to have his show killed.

This all ends once enough of us stand up.

The book Prime Minister, You Wanted To See Me?: A History of Week Ending by Ian Greaves and Justin Lewis. It's A4 and 670 pages so quite a chunk.

Can you think of a single movie in which there is a video from the government denouncing its political opponents playing on a loop in public spaces in which that government was the good guy?

Not settling to any horror films today. Started Incident In A Ghostland, def not (EVER) in the mood for slasher home invasion. Started The Monkey, too OTT guts. I just want good old reliable demonic possession, or perhaps a spooky architecturally impossible mansion. Oh well, back to Hill House again

New, from me: I break down all that is happening with the shutdown.
Shutdowns are bad. But only Trump and Russ Vought are brave enough to ask: what if shutdowns aren’t painful enough? How can we use this as an opportunity to target our political enemies? 🧵

Learning this completely changed how I read these strips.

The top row of the Peanuts Sunday strip was called the 'throw-away panel'. If there wasn't enough space in the comic section that syndicated it, the top row could be removed and the rest of the comic would still make sense without it. Schulz often used the throw-away panel for private/obscure jokes.

This should affect the kind of people who stroll around at private parties dressed in Roman costumes while knocking back a swimming pool's worth of Moet Et Chandon. But I get the feeling it won't.

My uncle has Alzheimer's and is often forgetful of his possessions. One of them is a Rolex Submariner. Would I be justified in taking and caring for it as my own instead of having it left neglected and forgotten in his jewelry box? Thanks.
