I know I keep RTing this but they said he was AD, took it back, and now have reaffirmed it again. And I cannot get over that a person who ignored a confession of DV against an LSU athlete is now in charge of the entire athletic department and all LSU athletes.

Writing about Elon Musk’s pay package without leading with this is like profiling John Wayne Gacy’s booming party clown career.
One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc

I am somewhat surprised we haven't seen a column of the form "are women ruining feminism" yet

In 2023, students at Ohio State blocked the doors to the president's office.

Little did they know, live video from campus CCTVs were being fed straight to DHS.

It's part of a little-known, decades-long surveillance effort built on the back of college football.

I'd missed this: Democratic-endorsed candidates *swept* the 6 school board races in Mecklenburg County, one of North Carolina's largest counties (home to Charlotte).

This means there won't be a Republican on the board anymore; the sole GOP incumbent was ousted.

Once again I am asking commenters making some variation of “you deserve this” to remember that Trump supporters are only 37% of the adult population; that several areas of Alabama went heavily for Harris, and that those areas by and large are the ones suffering most from the White House’s policies.
Via Anna Barrett: Alabamians could see major surges in the cost of Affordable Care Act (ACA) plans without enhanced tax credits for ACA premiums, which lie at the center of the federal government shutdown. https://ow.ly/IzP850XnvyG

Every single woman you know has had this happen to her. Even the goddamn president of Mexico.
Brava: “If I don’t file a complaint, then what message does that send to all Mexican women?” Ms. Sheinbaum said at her daily news conference, noting sexual harassment was a crime… “If this can happen to the president, what’s going to happen to all the young women & women across our country?”

The whole of the internet is now run on the things that would have not made it past your email junk filter 20 years ago.
Meta earns $3.5 billion every six months from showing Faceboon and Instagram users 15 billion “higher legal risk” scam ad impressions a day, internal documents state.

That haul vastly exceeds how much the company expects regulators
To fine it for running scam ads.

Excessive force. PERIOD!

They called them “violent mobs,” but the violence came from the guys with badges and body armor.

If it goes up, don’t cross the picket line. Collective action is the only way we ever get things done.
BREAKING: After months of stonewalling by Starbucks, unionized baristas just voted 92% to authorize a ULP strike unless Starbucks finalizes fair contracts & stops union busting.

If forced, our baristas will strike in dozens of cities on November 13 – the company's busiest sales day of the year.
Starbucks unionized workers say they'll strike on Nov. 13 if coffee giant doesn't finalize contract
Union members say they are ready to strike on the chain's Red Cup Day if Starbucks doesn't finalize a contract with their union by then.

i’d also say that the GOP’s obsession with this gives candidates an opportunity to articulate and stand up for their values. “i refuse to make anyone feel like they don’t belong in my [state/city/community]. and i want everyone to live the best life they can achieve [insert policy slogan]”
I am taking particular pleasure in the complete collapse of trans-as-unbeatable-wedge-issue narrative this morning. It might be an 80-20 issue in voters minds, but it has to be on voters minds to matter. The results in VA demonstrate that it is very much not on voters minds.

Taking a closer look at the #Marietta mayors' race, all EV votes are in, and three of 13 precincts have reported. Of those three, Foster won two, and Tumlin one.

6 of 13 have an EV lead by Foster
4 of 13 have an EV lead by Tumlin

So, it's still even-ish, but the advantage is tilting towards Sam
