I don't mean to keep hammering away at this drum, but I am currently in the hospital on Thanksgiving because I spent years putting more than my body could do into a job that was actively trying to kill me for not doing even more

Do not listen to these parasites

They will kill you and move on
Not going to link to the article because fuck it but anyone saying “the work/life balance might not be feasible” is trying to use you and pay you very little and wants you on the survival mode teat. Ignore them for the parasites they are.

I am a (not at all wealthy) golfer who loves Seattle’s municipal courses, the only way the sport is accessible to me. Broadmoor and other private urban golf clubs are an affront to our city and must either pay their fair share or go.
Paul has been talking about the tax loophole that Seattle country clubs have been enjoying for a while now but WOW I did not know how big

This is Broadmoor Golf Club. It's a gated right-wing enclave for the rich in Seattle. The golf course is 7 parcels, 122.2 acres. It's assessed at just $76k/ACRE!

Hate to continue bumping this!! But here's what I'm working with:

- I'm short about $400 on rent
- my current gig pays contractors on a 30 day delay(!!!)
- I can't drive until I can afford to repair my car (battery won't charge itself)

Thank you all for your help this year, it's been a lifesaver
I am going to refrain from despair posting tonight and just say any help you could throw my way would make a huge difference in my life rn

Calling authors petit bourgeoisie is indeed insane. We are artisans and we deserve to profit from our labor.

That said, digital piracy has never been shown to represent actual lost sales, and may in fact DRIVE sales. I think authors should cool out about it.
We’re not small business owners, ffs - we’re independent contractors, and we are routinely robbed by the world’s dumbest dingbats.

now imagine the numbers if non-regional rail didn't cost nearly as much as a plane ticket and take three times as long!
Amtrak's annual ridership was up 5%, hitting an all-time record high of 34.5 million rides nationwide over the last year. Amtrak Cascades also hit a record high, reporting 1.4% growth and coming in just short of crossing the million-ride mark for the year.

part of what I like about Mamdani is his admission that housing affordability is a more complex problem than either building more housing or expanding rent control. You need to do both in order to protect the most vulnerable now and improve the problem long term.
