i've been listening to framemaker a bunch over the last few days, it's really great! i had it on while getting our kitchen ready for many chefs and my partner was immediately into it. very good accompaniment to the day's festivities.

dang this thread went nuts. i muted notifications almost immediately and didn't see any of your replies. i love to live in blissful ignorance.

imo that's why 99.9% of us should learn to care slightly more about sports

this is so weak. if you're gonna send hatemail anyway you *gotta* uncensor your slurs. tumblr equivalent of being called a doodoo head lmao

a while back i made a patron-only vid about the pushback to "the problem is capitalism" and much like with ludonarrative dissonance it just seems that when a term crosses a certain use-threshold folks stop seeing what it means and just see a contentless virtue signal, a critic trying to sound smart.

this feels at least marginally tangential to the way "the problem is capitalism" has become a punchline in video essay circles, to the point of acting like any economic analysis of art is cringe and annoying. but like. the profit motive literally IS at the center of everything bad happening to art??

see the thing with that is, it's true of basically every single academic art analysis term or phrase that has ever broken containment. the words still mean what they mean and not using them when they're useful just feels like trying to prove you're smarter than people who annoyed you a few times

(that's the cardboard box the fleshlight came in, to be clear. not just some random box. that would make for a pretty dissonant metaphor)

sometimes the ludo and the narrative are indeed dissonant. in fact i would say quite often these days that the ludo and the narrative are almost always dissonant. but i guess we collectively decided that narrative is to games what the cardboard box is to a fleshlight

everyone acts like it's so cringe. they'll go out of their way to avoid saying in two words what they'd apparently prefer to say in fifty. if they DO say it, they'll act like it was extracted from them at gunpoint. is it because annoying people used it? is it because it has so many letters? come on
