The world has gotten to know Eduard Bazardo in these playoffs. But the Mariners’ fiery Venezuelan reliever wasn’t always this guy.

@ajeto.bsky.social is back to tell you how Seattle found its stopper. www.lookoutlanding.com/mlb-postseas...
Eduard Bazardo Has Been a Life Raft
The unheralded Venezuelan mixed up his pitch mix midseason and has become invaluable for the Seattle Mariners.

Josh Naylor picked up a bizarre hit in ALCS Game 2 on a pitch way up and away. It's an extreme example of a pitch he's had success on in 2025.

Like most things with Josh Naylor, I'm not really sure how or why.

Definitely a skill and not everyone’s game.

Thinking of Luke Raley taking 99 off the knee and saying “any way I can get on base, I don’t give a SHIT” after a key HBP that sparked the Mariners’ comeback in the playoff-clinching game against the Rockies

I think the game would be poorer if we didn't have dudes like Anthony Rizzo and Derek Dietrich who love getting on base with a bruise, personally.

it is *absolutely* a differentiable skill and it is also one that consists entirely of gamesmanship and ref-working and arguably a skill area that should not exist in a fairly officiated game

In the 4 playoff games John Schneider has managed the Blue Jays against the Mariners between 2022 and 2025, he's pulled his starter mid-inning each time.

The numbers from the relievers to complete those half innings:

9 TBF, 2 wild pitches, 2 home runs, 4 hits, and 8(!!!) runs allowed.

Another unstoppable force vs. immovable object matchup in today's game.

Logan Gilbert: +3 RV on his split, +10 on his four-seamer

This is a deeply funny read if you haven’t read it yet. I know body horror is the thing but imagine saying the Mariners—the team that employs Julio Rodríguez!—have no faces, only a butt. www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/baseb...

If there was ever a night for the Mariners to get a "lucky" pitching performance, it was last night. Tremendous work.
A table showing wOBA vs xwOBA for team pitching performances in the 2025 postseason. The Mariners pitchers allowed a .317 xwOBA last night; they allowed a .156 true wOBA. That -.161 difference is the largest in the postseason this year, and one of the 10 largest differences in the postseason since 2016.

This is incredibly hard, and I come with no expectations. But my family needs help. We need it fast, by this Wednesday, or we will be homeless with no options. If you can help, please do. We just want to keep our family together and safe. #mutualaid #helpsky

I feel like this looks quite prescient. Mariners pitchers attacked the zone, Blue Jays were super aggressive, contact was OK but not great and everything found a glove. Could not have drawn up a better night for the staff.

The Seattle Mariners have just announced that George Kirby and Luis Castillo will start Games 3 and 4 respectively, on Wednesday and Thursday in Seattle.

That lines up Bryan Woo in theory for a Friday return for Game 5 (if necessary). www.lookoutlanding.com/seattle-mari...

I expected the Seattle Mariners to show signs of fatigue tonight in Toronto. Instead, against a Blue Jays club that doesn't strike out, Bryce Miller and Cal Raleigh showed us who they believe they are. www.lookoutlanding.com/game-recap/1...

Boosting this as a pre-recap read because things played out about as is described here: Blue Jays hitters were super aggressive in the zone, Mariners pitchers threw quality strikes and got outs on pitcher’s pitches. www.lookoutlanding.com/seattle-mari...

Look I understand. It’s the Mariners. You haven’t paid attention to them all year. But this is a very big, very dumb mistake to make on national television! Especially in this particular matchup!

this is so cute especially if you know his wife's name is Chantel - a subtle little nod from the famously private Naylor

I’ve been meaning to do a Mariners fit thread forever, and Josh Naylor finally forced my hand. Strolling into Rogers Center in a bubble gum pink, Chanel-inspired textured blazer? And ROCKING it? Swagger levels off the charts.
Josh Naylor walking in to Rogers Center in distressed jeans, multicolored sneakers, sunglasses, and a pink blazer. Luis Castillo is walking in behind him.
