It's funny, the no kings protests could be the best chace to normalize the idea of nationwide strikes in the US, if the organizers are serious. They do maybe 2 more on weekends to really lock them into people's practice, then say, "hey, let's show them we really mean business & do it on a Wednesday"

For those old enough to remember the powerful visual message that was the AIDS quilt, this is an excellent choice of things to bear the weight of en masse. IMO a big part of that inoculation involves empathy & recognition that the fascist brand of CHUD rot (as opposed to the more innocent party/chaos type of CHUDdery) is super attractive to ppl who feel their choices & power stripped away. Went to the grocery store - *before* coffee, in the clothes I slept in - to buy bulk spices (some of which I had to wait for staff to refill) so I could make a HUGE JAR of homemade pumpkin spice blend, so YES, I AM PARTICIPATING IN THE SEASON. Same price as a premixed bag, but there’s love in there.
