related to said councilor, who sits on the TRANSPORTATION STANDING COMMITTEE, noting she never sees what the digital speed limit signs say when you are driving at or below the limit.
I don't know who needs to hear this (*coughTrishPurdycough*), but if the speed limit is 50kph, you should be aiming for 45kph, so that way if you press a bit too hard on the gas or are going down a hill, you have a margin of error of 5kph, so you can speed up without breaking the law.

My kids play this game where they take a bite out of an apple, piece it back together and ask “Is it broken or not?”

And I just found the #BikeHfx parking equivalent to this. 😭 (will report)

Of course, they left out the part where I said that some people think the bollards are better than nothing and others feel they are so narrow that we would be better off without them. I talked about the broader issues of seasonal maintenance on all bike lanes as well (thus the photo on Almon).

A plausible explanation for the diagonal diverter's removal that doesn't involve Premier Houston meddling in municipal affairs again. I hope it's just this. #BikeHfx
the folks who put up cones around road work fall under Temporary workplace traffic control regulations. There is a whole certification program, and a Manual which covers what they are permitted to do. deviations would be a workplace safety issue, hence the DOL.

This is scandalous cc: @halifaxexaminer.ca
Construction workers told me that the province intervened via the Department of Labour and had them remove the diverter. I haven't confirmed that info in any way however.

one went in on Bell Rd. around the same time the seasonal flexposts came out. I figure the flex posts probably slowed speeds more than the sign ever will.

thankfully, there are councillors who seem to understand that land use is a very powerful fiscal tool.

adding to that:

land use that is affordable for the city is also going to be more affordable for its citizens.

Cuttell is also saying that the average tax bill number is not at all helpful. Because renters in non-capped apartment buildings are getting absolutely fucking ruined. Recent home buys with a freshly reset cap are being dragged over the coals. Capped properties will pay the same taxes as last year.
