What does all this tell our children? It says that climate denial, racism, anti-trans, anti-vaxx, anti-Canada are all ok - do this and you too can be elevated to the "favorite child" position in the front seat of the car with Dad. 22/22

During a postal strike, making it sound as if his opponent was the Liberal PM, and neglecting to mention that his victory plan was to pillage and plunder the province’s democracy and resources. Teach those children well!

"Guilbeault was, effectively, what stood between a somewhat healthy environment and the outright slide into fossil-fuel boosterism," writes @alexcoolfergus.bsky.social.

My armchair psychologist's degree is diagnosing this as 'Projection' given #MarkCarney 's Energy & Natural Resources Minister #TimHodgson is championing the energy systems of the last 100 years instead of the next 100. Nostalgia indeed🙄 #LosingTheEnergyTransition #cdnpoli #MarkCarney
People who care about climate change are “dreaming nostalgically about the past.” - Minister Hodgson

This pipeline will never be built. But trying to build it is still a tragic waste of time and money at a time when we have neither to spare.

This is integrity - and a harsh condemnation of Carney from the best climate minister this country has ever had

👏👏 @stevenguilbeault.bsky.social

I hope others have the courage to be as honest about what a disgrace Carney is

Something that is easy to forget in all the "Carney is a political genius / Carney is a political naif" argle bargle is that climate policies matter. Environmental regulations matter. Getting rid of them may or may not achieve a political end — but it's guaranteed to have real-world implications.

Canada needs some kind of political party on the left that could take the place of PM Harper's Liberals. Some kind of new party, a democratic one maybe.
November 27, 2025 at 7:30 PM
Exactly. Wishful thinking has given this PM a leash that is far too long, so the fossil fuel lobby and Smith have been able to drag him places he should not have gone. Thank you, @jameswsthomson.com
Never been so mad to publish something.

While I have a ton of time for Max's analysis, I think this is overlooking one major fact: Carney didn't need Alberta's approval to bring in an industrial carbon price. So he traded a litany of climate policies for nothing he didn't already have.
Mark Carney managed to trade a pipeline that will never get built for meaningful progress on industrial carbon pricing and electricity interties — both of which will get more wind and solar built.

“There are 20 Liberals from British Columbia in the House of Commons. If the Alberta deal goes ahead as predicted, there will be about five after the next federal election, retired Mount Royal University political scientist Keith Brownsey predicted Wednesday.”
@djclimenhaga.bsky.social: Alberta Premier Danielle Smith doesn’t need a pipeline to Prince Rupert, she just needs Prime Minister Mark Carney to promise she can have one, with sketchy details to follow.

Bravo to Min Guilbeault , a man of integrity who, along w/ Mme McKenna, did their best to help transition Canada to a green economy. An economy of today & tomorrow.

We are indebted to both.

PM @markcarneyforpm.bsky.social should take note of both our Environment Ministers’ integrity.

“At best, Mark Carney capitulated to Danielle Smith's backward view of the future. At worst, the Prime Minister shares that view.”
10 years ago Mark Carney warned about the "existential threat" posed by climate catastrophe and the need to move from fossil fuel burning.
Now he is using Stephen Harper's lines about becoming an "energy super power."
This is a powerful analysis on the MOU.

Kudos to @stevenguilbeault.bsky.social for standing up for the climate. It is beyond disappointing to see the prime minister pander to pro-Trump, healthcare- and climate-wrecking Premier Smith, and to the fossil fuel lobby, betraying Indigenous rights and B.C. Where are those “Value(s)”?
