I’m watching the US fall apart because 400 wealthy people control 60% of the country’s wealth and fondly remembering the Centrist outrage and endless think pieces written when Dan Riffle tweeted “Every billionaire is a policy failure”

Where we stand, in long arc of history:

-Story on left, adding race as a factor when that favors white people.

-Story on right, banning race as a factor when that favors non-whites.

I often complain about NYT headlines and story-play. But these are strong. Including "If Court Guts 1965 Law."
Two headlines on front page of NYT.

First is "Trump Weighs Transforming Refugee Policy. White People Would be Given Preference."

Second is "Justices May Ban Race as a Factor in District Maps. Nation's Political Balance Could Shift If Court Guts 1964 Law."

Years ago I interviewed Tomonobu Itagaki at E3. I said: "Isn't this weird? We're in a room in a fake building inside a giant building so we can talk about *pretend* buildings you made."

He put on his sunglasses and said: "I too think of myself as a warrior."

My wife made this for my birthday.

Rest in peace Itagaki, one of the GOATs. He didn't just make awesome games but also changed countless people's views on what action games could & should be. Actually had a really strong vision on how to push the genre forward, directly shaping people's tastes

this iconic advertising copywriter named Kathy Hepinstall Parks died over the weekend and I wanted to share something from her website I thought Bluesky would like
Why should I write better when a machine can do it for me?
Because actually no one can do it for you, because your voice is unique among all the people on earth. Siri never petted a horse's neck. Alexa has never been ghosted by the captain of the football team. But you have lived, your heart is beating, you have suffered, and you have something important to say. It's a human's job, to use words, and whatever job you give to a machine, that part of your brain goes dark. Maybe it's worth it when it comes to remembering phone numbers and directions, but when that part of your brain that uses words goes dark, that's a vast area that's very close to your soul. Don't let some internet platform convince you that what you have to say and create isn't worthwhile. Words are the echo of your soul. Honing that echo matters.

"Why do people get upset with remakes? It's not like they replace the originals"

Capcom execs: We replaced the original games, why re-release them?
i was thinking that all the footage im seeing of the new pokemon just makes me want a devil survivor game in this style while controlling a bunch of units at once. so i guess what i actually want is final fantasy 12 except its devil survivor

Six people had their visas revoked due to their social media posts.

Six people are being deported because of what they said online.

Six people have had their freedom of speech suspended.

It won’t stop with these six people.

Either we all have freedom of speech or none of us do.

They're the ones making our neighborhoods unsafe. They're the danger to our children. They're the threat to law and order.
Agent lobs a gas canister into a residential neighborhood in Illinois for no discernible reason, gassing dozens of neighbors including a baby. The comfort with which they deploy weapons of war is unreal.

In space, death is contagious. When we die, the Scarabs decontaminate our ships and lay us to rest.

But when Dalia gets cleanup request from her childhood home, she finds something she’s never seen before: a contamination that doesn’t want to be cleaned.

This is Ambrosia Sky.

it is not polite to say so but no discussion of the state of the games industry/press can really avoid the reality that the audience is just. really really bad.

WATCH: ‘Portland Frog’ pepper balled by ICE agents
i just want to play spikeout but modern releases are trapped in like a dragon. someone free these games from their AAA prisons
the fact the first game just gets shoved into a different game of an unrelated genre and called an anniversary celebration actually feels pretty insulting ngl. even if i know it's par for the course with companies trying somehow to work in old IPs
banshee's last cry is a historically important work that deserves a localized release on modern platforms, possibly in a package that includes other versions and its sequels, with some additional reading material supplying context around its release. like a gradius origins but for a sound novel
they won't release any accessible standalone western localized version of banshee's last cry or a bundle of all the games, but they WILL put it into sf6 for an audience who don't know what the fuck it is and don't give a shit? saying they're celebrating the anniversary of the game is a joke.

Good reporting on the South Shore raid from South Side weekly here.

Confirms one thing I was told but didn't put in my own piece because I didn't have a second source and it seemed too insane: border agents segregated arrested residents by race

Federal Agents Storm South Shore Building, Detaining Families and Children
Families were woken by flashbangs and helicopters as hundreds of federal agents raided their homes. Days later, neighbors are still searching for the missing.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.
