Just a little grey duck in a big grey world. He/him. (Not to be mistaken for ho/hum.) If I have a "main topic" it's the game #Satisfactory. My main textual output is (or should be, if I'm behaving myself) over at my not-a-blog: https://greyduck.net

I needed a bit of good news today. This counts.
Spent the day mostly playing #Satisfactory and keeping an eye on a couple of work-related situations (I'm on-call this week). Main accomplishment? Coal power, which is always the biggest "sigh of relief" milestone to reach in a new save. Next? I need SAM ore and a proper ironworks.

Hey, SundayPixies, since I'm really not well enough for inventive thought this weekend, tomorrow's #SundayPix theme will be "Stacks". See what you can make of that with the hashtag #SundayPixStacks
Suggestions for Sunday Pix...

Stacks (probably safer than piles!!).

He's always doing Something with whatever he's given. I've never seen him "just" play the part.
My block was bespoke (too many lists-related shenanigans for me to get on board with that just yet) but... Ell Oh Freakin' Ell indeed.
Holy wow, instablock.
This, from the guy who built a gigantic "monument to hubris" battery-power ziggurat in our family co-op save a year or so back.
After the 278th pure ingot refinery, something inside him snapped...
#Satisfactory
Geordi LaForge meme, disapproving of "Talking smack," on board with "Talking Godsmack."
4.5 hours into my new #Satisfactory save and I've got the first space elevator shipment up. Plus, I got Iron Wire and Cast Screws from my first drop pod hard drives. SWEET. Next? Coal power, please and thank you.
I can look, I just can't touch. 😁
On the one hand: That is Not Of The Lord.

On the other hand: Were it not for the diabetes, I'd be two-fisting those things as fast as I possibly could. Pasta-and-cheese concoctions were my comfort food most of my life.
Transcendent.

The crunchy-as-hell bass in the back half of the song don't hurt none either.
Dagnabbit man, why'd you go and pick what I was gonna?

Fine. Have my favorite Natalie Imbruglia song instead.

Oh, neat pick! And yeah, it's amazing how many MST-isms make their way into casual speech. "Down, down, down..."

I've used the "packing peanut" bit from Screaming Skull more than once to describe a pointless, boring meeting at work.
Not just about any ketchup, but that excited over a basic-looking mockup of a ketchup bottle that looks like the result of five minutes with Photoshop.
Keep circulating the shiny platters!

OK, time to either win or lose a new friend by stating my favorite MST3K...

Jack Frost! My absolute comfort-food watch, never lets me down.
I raised my kids on MST3K, among other things. I'm probably an absolute nuisance to watch shows with. 😅
Ah, you can see through the facade. That's fair.

(Mind you: I'm intensely allergic, so I wouldn't *actually* be in danger of giving in to the pupper's every whim, by virtue of never being in the same room...)
A few? It was back during first airing.

I've never been able to bring myself to stick with something that isn't clicking for me because "it gets better, honest!" though. Like, "I could be *enjoying* life right now, instead of *this*."
Admittedly, I'd have a tough time denying *that face* anything it wanted.
effing DDD, "it gets better!" you sure about that chief? "well except for--" yeah nope.

I had a feeling after the first Madoka Magica that it was going to ruin mahou shoujo for years, and I hate having been right about that. Didn't expect the neverending-franchise of it though.
As a seasonal streaming anime watcher, I could give you a list as long as my arm. So let's talk about USian television shows. Sticking to genre fare, because that's my wheelhouse.

Stargate. Also, the Battlestar revamp. Both shows I should (in theory) really dig, and yet. Didn't click.
A show you tried to watch but just couldn’t get into ?

This right here is the best management advice ever. Also useful in personal relationships.

Thank you colleagues for their contribution. Thank your partner for making dinner. Or taking out the trash.

It'll stop sounding ridiculous when it becomes normal. Make it normal.
I worked with a lawyer many years ago who would thank me before I left work each night. “Bye Fi. Have a good night. Thanks for everything today.” It sounds ridiculous but it made a massive difference to how I felt about my job at the time.
