This summer, I'm riding the entire route of the 2025 Tour de France, raising money for leukaemia research.

You can help; here’s the link: www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/30925 (please select “Cure Leukemia” as the fund and choose to dedicate your donation in honour of “Grant Hamilton”)
It’s a minor “thing” but kind of fun once in a while. In the Strava route-building tool, I just play around until it looks like what I want. Some people do incredible art but it’s a little like Etch-a-Sketch, really finicky.
I don’t make the world’s best Strava art, but it is the most meaningful to me, today.

And Canada’s. Lots of great Strong Towns people north of the border too 🇨🇦
Allow us to reintroduce ourselves: We’re Strong Towns, and we seek to replace America’s postwar pattern of development, the Suburban Experiment, with a pattern of development that is financially strong and resilient.

See if we’re coming to your area soon: buff.ly/Zh0Z6J6

telling that the reaction to this has been overwhelmingly positive, and that his detractors aren't really pushing this as an attack vector. maybe it's because trans rights are overwhelmingly popular in polling! could be!
I wrote a little about some of the little details you might have missed in this video and why it hit me so hard as a trans person this morning:

Thanksgiving in Canada has nothing to do with Columbus!

We are a colonial country with a million things to atone for but Thanksgiving is not one of them.

Our Thanksgiving is timed with the harvest and it's literally just "Be grateful for harvest"

US Imperialism has brain rotted too many of you.

By me this week - the happiest thing I've got to report of late, with a glorious trip over the summer to Montreal

Maybe (Pollyanna here) getting CRA themselves into the filing game motivates them to simplify some aspects of returns?

What if you had to take your drivers test at least every 10 years?

A lot changes over time. Including knowledge/memory of the road rules, driver skills and ability, and the size and deadliness of vehicles.
100% agree it should be a CRA-provided experience. They should acqui-hire this team and just rebrand it!

(Ask me what I think about Canada Postbank… )
I’ve had a zero-junk experience for going on ten years probably? But I do have a simple return. They pull all the info from CRA, so it would be weird if they missed some T forms.
Wealthsimple (formerly SimpleTax, RIP) does essentially this, for free-or-tip. Some people don’t love that WS also now tries to sell you investment products, tho.
Love being geographically close to a powerful exemplar state.
In our - very limited - historical experience of democracy,

(i) states rot from the centre-right
(ii) and it's contagious (via geography/powerful exemplar states)
Nice, and me when I was just thinking I was going to wake up my starter today.

"The single most important behaviour, design or regulation for creating streets conducive to walking and cycling, was physical separation between the modes"

We've got a new study out, learning from a broad mixture of street users, planners and designers
