Today, I am feeling so much gratitude to so many people: family, friends, and colleagues new and old. But I am especially thankful for everyone who is fighting the good fight to make our city and our world better and more just. We’re in this together. #ThisIsYourCity

We are so proud of the nearly 70% of the vote we received. Thank you, District 2!

Whether you contributed vouchers, knocked doors, made a donation, or spread the word to your friends and neighbors — this win is our win and shows what is possible when we come together as a community.

Leaked documents show Amazon is working to automate 75% of the companies operations, eliminating 600,000 workers.

Starbucks is laying off employees and refusing to finish bargaining a contract with its union which Sbux has dragged on for years. Meanwhile it’s CEO got paid around $100M last year, which is 6,666 times the average salary for a barista (around $15K).

I recently toured the Turina James building and was really impressed with Purpose Dignity Action’s programming. They treat clients with dignity and individualized care and it’s changing lives. They also do “after care”, continuing to provide services for around 12 months once someone is housed.
NEW: After paying for hotel rooms to shelter homeless people, Seattle deliberately left them vacant.

By the end of 2024, taxpayers were spending $4,200 a month per empty room at a time when thousands of residents were without a roof over their heads.
Seattle Spent Millions on Hotel Rooms to Shelter Unhoused People. Then It Stopped Filling Them.
Early last year, the city signed a $2.7 million lease extension to continue using a hotel’s rooms as shelter space. Yet despite committing to pay the rent, the city stopped sending people there.

So disappointed!!! Come on folks. These neighborhood centers are great places for adding density. We say we care about housing costs and homelessness, climate change and trees and businesses, and then we repeat the same mistakes!! Exclusionary zoning is a root cause of so many of our problems.
Rinck's amendment to restore eight neighborhood centers eliminated by Mayor Bruce Harrell in his proposed comprehensive plan fails, with only Rinck voting yes.
