Trump at the Charlie Kirk memorial event: "They fired sniper rifles at ICE agents, and me. But I made a turn at a good time. I made a turn at a good time. Charlie couldn't believe it, actually."

After bragging about permanently cutting "Democrat programs," Trump says "we're not closing up Republican programs."

Is there a lot to say about that Politico story about the horrible racist Hitlerite group chat that every single young Republican aspirant was part of? Sure. But the thing that pops out to me is how every single one of these nerds has rolling backpack/wears a suit to school/asthma kid physiognomy

One of the biggest wins for Republicans is that they don't have to pretend to like Guy Stuff anymore. Lindsey Graham doesn't have to pretend to watch baseball. The party has been ideologically captured by smelly unpopular wheely backpack guys who loathe sports and jocks. I mean check this shit out

Eric Trump: "We're saving Christianity. We've saving God. We've saving the family unit. We're saving this nation. I mean, DEI is out of the window, Benny. You no longer have Colin Kaepernick kneeling for the national anthem. You no longer have Budweiser going woke as hell. All of this is dead."

One thing I think about a lot in regards to Columbus is: do you know what an insane piece of shit you had to be to have had as bad a reputation as he did among your contemporaries IN THE FIFTEENTH CENTURY
tlecaque.bsky.social
Christopher Columbus was dragged back to Spain in chains by a crusading knight, convicted of tyranny and immeasurable cruelty, pardoned by Isabella but banned from returning to Hispaniola.

Fuck Columbus.

I love talking to Republicans about frankly treasonous Trumpist-era executive corruption only for them to dismissively respond "You've clearly never heard of The Trispecticus Project" and it ends up being specious allegations that Eric Holder misused his McDonald's discount app in 2009

I'm serious: someone has to get Thiel to watch The Boondocks Saints. Imagine the discourse
sharonk.bsky.social
thiel, man, what the fuck are you talking about

He describes the plot of Watchmen, a 1986 graphic novel involving superheroes grappling with moral questions about humanity against the backdrop of impending nuclear war:

The antihero Ozymandias, the antichrist-type figure, is sort of an early-modern person. He believes this will be a timeless and eternal solution – eternal world peace. Moore is sort of a late-modern. In early modernity, you have ideal solutions, ‘perfect’ solutions to calculus. In late modernity, things are sort of probabilistic. And at some point, he asks Dr Manhattan whether the world government is going to last. And he says that ‘nothing lasts forever.’ So you embrace the antichrist and it still doesn’t work.

Thiel later finds biblical meaning in the manga One Piece, discussing how he believes it represents a future where an antichrist-like one-world government has repressed science. He believes that the hero, Monkey D Luffy, represents a Christlike figure.

In One Piece, you are set in a fantasy world, again sort of an alternate earth, but it’s 800 years into the reign of this one-world state. Which, as the story unfolds, gradually gets darker and darker. You sort of realize, in my interpretation, who runs the world and it’s something like the antichrist. There’s Luffy, a pirate who wears a red straw hat, sort of like Christ’s crown of thorns. And then towards the end of the story, transforms into a figure who resembles Christ in Revelation.

Thiel, along with a researcher and writer at Thiel Capital, explored these ideas at greater length in an essay for the religious journal First Things earlier this month.
