Hitler was bad.

An essay that, you know, I didn’t think I’d need to write.
Perry: The pro-Hitler problem with the American right
"We need to get back to the basics: Hitler was bad. The people who suggest otherwise are also bad," David M. Perry writes.

Delighted to report that my less online spouse is cheerfully embracing his identity as the snowblower guy (non-gendered) for our block.

So far today he’s done all the neighbor’s sidewalks and our less mobile neighbor’s driveways, and I think he’s getting ready for round 3.

I love transit all the time, but the first storm of the season it's magical to not have to worry about all the car drivers re-learning how to drive in snow!
You can also practice taking public transit! The bus or light rail is a safe and easy way to get around when you’re uncomfortable driving :)

This is the way to use no or less salt on your sidewalks this winter.
Cherry stone grit is like gravel shards that give great traction and you can sweep them up and use them over and over again

Read this!

You are now whistle trained.

Go forth and multiply.
Neighbors - you do not need anyone's permission to sound your whistle when you spot ICE. Nor do you need to attend a whistle training first. Here's everything you need to know.

The problem with ICE is not that it's targeting people who aren't criminals. The problem with ICE is that it's an unaccountable secret deportation police. It cannot be reformed under a better president. It can be made less terrible, but the instrument of repression remains for the next tyrant.

Ice has a legit warrant for the action on Maryland Avenue in St. Paul.

Leave the area. Document sppd action and fight like hell for them not to participate in future federal activities.

Our Somali friends and neighbors are elected leaders, entrepreneurs, artists, caregivers, drivers, and integral parts of communities from the Twin Cities to St Cloud to small towns. No matter their status, they belong.

Local leadership needs to assume that they’re being lied to by federal agencies. Especially after two verified raids with ICE presence despite public statements to the contrary.

It was heartening to see Mayor Carter on the ground yesterday. I hope Mayor-Elect Her takes note!
Been thinking about Lake Street raid & Bro-Tex — Lake St w/MPD on-site for “crowd control” & Bro-Tex w/no StP PD, & relative impact on protestors … but Strib notes Lake St — justified by Frey/Witt as a drug bust — has so far netted only an immigration conviction. www.startribune.com/federal-agen...

Note that I saw no kids at this event. Did families get to come and get turned away for the unannounced bag policy?

Or like me, did all the parents work to make alternative arrangements for our kids because we knew this would be the opposite of family friendly?
Despite the "family-friendly" designation of this event, it's taking place over dinner/bedtime for elementary and younger kids, and doesn't provide childcare.

So what exactly makes it family friendly?
The DFL Listening Tour is the hottest event in town, and is moved to a larger venue to meet the demand.

Happy to welcome the @dfl.org to SD62 at Sabathani, on Nov. 13 at 6:30 PM. Show up to share the issues important to you with the state party.

This was not a “listening session.”

Less than half the people who got in line to speak were able to do so.

And those that did speak got evasive answers, not active listening.
We asked Richard to show up and listen and what we got was a corporate presentation about branding followed by evasive answers that absolutely did not meet the moment.

When I met Richard for the first time two months ago, I told him this party was a ticking bomb and it's already starting to blow.

Due to the unannounced bag policy, if I had brought my kid, I would have been turned away.

Parents attending a meeting with kids often need to travel with stuff!
