We have a house rule that if you cause a crashing noise or yelp/swear loudly, it must be followed by “it’s fine” within 10 seconds or everyone starts running towards the emergency.

It once led to “it’s fine but the dog is covered in olive oil” being shouted up the stairs…..

Agreed. Somewhat like Wisconsin, the strength of the NC statewide Democratic electorate has elected Democratic Governors for decades (with one exception), despite increasingly overwhelming Republican wins at the state legislative level.

The gerrymandering is a mess.

If you want families to feel welcome, offer childcare. Or say explicitly that kids are welcome to participate.

MFPS has just done a massive organizing campaign with childcare offered for every in-person meeting. The family-friendly rally was equipped with snacks, activities, and headphones.

I wish I felt that I could bring my kid. But my experience at DFL events is that (totally normal) kid disruptions are treated as a massive breach of decorum. (Let me tell you the side-eye I experienced for nursing my 7 week old at caucuses).
