Trump won't be impeached and he won't be removed from office. We're all going to be forced to watch in horror as he completely destroys America's standing in the world, its economy, and the stability of the world order.

I feel like we need to build our own systems in society to provide for people's basic needs, outside of the govt. we need to stop trying to rely on the fickle administrations of the govt to give the most vulnerable among us food, shelter, healthcare, etc. and just have the community provide it
I really do hope Discord’s move to implement age verification and increased surveillance, including by using partners connected to Peter Thiel, is a line in the sand for most users

I feel like OpenAI and makers of some other foundational models aren’t going to see the revenue they’re banking on within the next 4-5 years. once they do, are these models they’ve trained going to be sold to cover their debt? if so, to whom? will they go out of fashion or become cheaper?

An open movement, that’s huge and universal, will be more effective than a closed movement that is tiny and paranoid. If we let a fed spy into rapid response, who cares? For every one of them we get 300 neighbors. All they can do is listen as we swarm them.

both the post and reply here are very real, tbh. it’s super okay to want to use social media as an escape sometimes, and it’s also important to not do that so much that you aren’t living in reality. the problem is that Bluesky allows you to do both and each user usually only chooses one of them

I’m increasingly of the view that Bluesky will never be the replacement for Twitter (short-form reactions to real-time world events) while it also tries to be a dialectical discussion platform (the closest example of a good one is Kialo). there has to be a different platform for actual discussion.

Germ is like a Signal that is built for integrations. Signal has made clear they do not want to interoperate anywhere. Our priority right now is bringing your ATProto network into our app, not bringing our app into your app. But it is possible longer-term and clearly of interest to the community
