I think about this a lot with the WNBA player who said "we don't even want to live in Detroit/Cleveland." Like yeah you make 110 grand a year to be there for four months- that's really kinda shitty. But if the W had four or five barnstorming teams, they'd go to Nashville for a weekend and sell out.

Quick note on women's sports: it's probably not profitable to stick them on opposite sides of the country. The fastest way to actually make money is probably to base them all in NYC to cut down on travel and then barnstorm a bit to build fans. "Oh the women's baseball team is in town" etc
