Tech can often yield unexpected outcomes. You build Feature A, expecting Result B, but you end up with Result Z!

Since outcomes are not always linear, #SystemsThinking is an approach I use as a tech leader to build complex and interconnected systems.

they're executing moms and nurses in the street. they're using preschoolers as bait. they're stealing people's dads and grandmas and children. they're tear gassing babies. they're staking out schools. there is no remedy but abolition. any proposal that doesn't start there is an act of violence.

We're not allowed to see the faces of the taxpayer-funded goon squad who is committing crimes in the streets, but the goon squad is allowed to record the faces of taxpayers who have committed no crimes.
“We have a nice little database, & now you’re considered domestic terrorists” says an ICE agent after photographing a civilian who was videotaping them. Posted today by Brian Allen on X. h/t @allenanalysis.bsky.social

DHS spending bill passed 220-207

7 Democrats voted in favor:
Henry Cuellar
Don Davis
Laura Gilles
Marie Gluesenkamp Perez
Jared Golden
Vicente Gonzalez
Tom Suozzi

Massie voted No
Andy Harris didn't vote

Might not have passed if every Democrat voted No, but leadership wasn't whipping them to do so

I'm now getting emails from people claiming to be in desperate need of financial assistance. They are asking me to claim the trading fees from a memecoin made in my name, without my permission, and transfer the money to them.

This all feels like one big coordinated scam -- or trap.

The prevailing consensus over the last year was that anyone calling for a general strike was ridiculous and ignorant and it would never work here, and maybe that’s true nationally, I dunno, but I bet those people wouldn’t have seen tomorrow in MN coming either
National media should really be covering the fact thay every major school, museum, and arts institution in the Twin Cities, and hundreds of local businesses are closed tomorrow to protest federal occupation.

Nothing like this at this scale has happened anywhere in America anytime in living memory.

We need to document how this ownership change shifts the content. Would love to see scientists studying and reporting on this as it happens, as well as everyday people documenting the changes in their feeds with TikTok diaries or something similar. I’ll assume we won’t have much if any API access.

So the House is going to vote TOMORROW on the DHS funding bill that includes funding for ICE.

There's a real chance we can get Dems to vote NO on any bill with ICE funding to sink it.

Once it goes to the Senate we likely lose this chance.

24 hours. Go.

You know what law was intended to prevent state legal regimes from racially profiling families and abducting children who might be caught without a parent? The Civil Rights Act of 1866. You know, the law to dismantle the Black Codes.
Just saw on KARE 11 that this boy was sent to a detainment facility in Texas and that his family didn't know his whereabouts for almost 24 hours.

ICE just abducted a 4-year-old boy in Minneapolis. ICE is using the boy as “bait” to get the mom. Father is also abducted. Absolutely disgusting, horrific, inhuman stuff.

🚨HOLY CRAP. An ICE whistleblower just revealed a secret memo authorizing ICE officers to break into homes without a judicial warrant, which DHS's own legal training materials say is unconstitutional!

ICE then hid the memo from the public, passing it along by word of mouth and private conversation.

Reminded of someone saying people in the US don’t face “real” danger from the police around the time Ferguson cracked off.
You’re definitely announcing that you watched Black people organize a movement against being murdered by police and vigilantes and said “fuck those people”

The big problem for me is there was an attempt to restructure the flaws of the constitution after the civil war yet the USA really dropped the ball during the reconstruction era. And a lot of the problems today have their roots in that failure.

I appreciate the sentiment here, but it is only honest to say that the United States will never be the same again. The U.S. that led the world in scientific research in so many disciplines is done. It may be possible someday for some to be rebuilt, but why would any other country trust us again?
This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.
