The funny thing is why QT focuses on the last four as old man movies? Like everything Hitchcock did from 1950 is old man movies. If Hitchcock quit after 10 movies that’s like mid30s. He’d never get to The Lady Vanishes leave alone Vertigo and Psycho.
I love how the whole "old man movies" thing seemingly stems from him being mad that Alfred Hitchcock (who he has a real grudge against in general) made the likes of Topaz and Family Plot in his later years. But isn't it *more* interesting if a director's filmography isn't all masterpieces?

But that would require real displays of vulnerability and we know Tarantino cares too much about being “cool” to care about doing stuff like that.
Tarantino has said he doesn’t want to do a bunch of out-of-touch old man movies, but he’d be better off making one instead of making out-of-touch old man comments.

California Governor Gavin Newsom said on Thursday that the Democratic Party needed to be “more culturally normal” and “less judgmental.”

Paul Dano is entirely comfortable playing weird, unpleasant, disempowered men and it makes Quentin -- a guy who radiates a Muskian desire to be seen as cool -- very uncomfortable.

Sarandos is a guy who can step into the vacuum of chaos and present a weaker status quo than the period of chaos. So that makes him more dangerous in my view, than if he were actively malicious.
One complicated thing about Netflix/WB is that Ted Sarandos, although he is the public face of antipathy to the theatrical experience, is not especially high on the list of those who've undermined and damaged it. I'd rank him 4th, after studios, theater owners, and people who quit going to movies.

It's the only MI film that is virtually unwatchable, lacking even the sheer insanity of MI2. No idea why such a fun franchise chose to end on such a self-serious, self-referential, self-congratulatory note.
I don't know if I've ever hated the first hour of a movie as much as I hated the first hour of "Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning."

Overall, what a baffling film.

And Lillard got to work with David Lynch and give a heart wrenching performance for an incredible piece of tv, while the most original Tarantino can be is copying himself for CSI

Tarantino is right now the most hated person in US Cinema.

An asshole who doesn’t realize he’s not, and probably never was, this edgy outsider guy who punches up. Rather he’s now an influential guy picking and harassing people, punching down on those who don’t have his level of clout.
Matthew Lillard reacts to Quentin Tarantino's comments about him

"Quentin Tarantino says he doesn't like me as an actor ... it hurts your feelings, it fucking sucks, and he wouldn't say that to Tom Cruise ... or a top-line actor ... It's humbling, and it hurts"

Accurate -- the ratio of practical versus CGI in prequels versus sequels is the opposite of what people think. There was no "return to practical".

Yeah. But what if making stuff humans enjoy was merely a byproduct of doing lots of deals? Mmm. Deals.
You know, I think if I owned the rights to a century's worth of the most acclaimed films ever like The Wizard of Oz and 2001, plus all the most popular characters in cartoon history, plus Superman and Batman, plus tons of other stuff, I could probably make enough money I wouldn't need to sell it.

Tom Stoppard has sadly passed away at the age of 88. The famous playwright did uncredited script polishing for Revenge of the Sith and wrote the iconic Darth Plagueis speech.

Tarantino doesn't have the courage to commit even a fraction of the unapologetic vulnerability or spiritual abstraction that characterizes Lynch's work. The more obvious read is he went from pretending to be Scorsese to pretending to be Leone. But mostly he's just a more racist De Palma.
