Ditko created this squiggly silhouette for an octopus not for an orderly octagon.

Paul Dano was brilliant in TWBB.

Tarantino has made some good movies but he’s a terrible shitty movie critic with bad taste and a shallow view of life.

It’s the truth

So basically it's a mess, where writers and artists are saying and doing entirely different things. That wonderful incoherence. The GW Bridge by the way was featured in ASM#48 where Spider-Man fought the Vulture there. The first time a big NYC public monument was used for a battle. 3

Say what you will about Letterboxd but the poetry of this review of a River Phoenix masterpiece is hard to beat.

If by some people you mean the original script of ASM#121 as it exists on page, written by Gerry Conway.

Thinking of experimenting with logo-design. I am tempted to keep the Halloween Logo as my new default. But I tried and tinkered with some alternate styles.

HONORABLE MENTION: IN THE LOST LANDS by Paul W. S. Anderson, adapted from a George R. R. Martin story. It ain't horror but it's got witches and werewolves and post-apocalyptic Mad Max zaniness. It's a good film, and Jovovich and Batista are a compelling couple. Also read no spoilers. Go in cold. 9

THE COMPANY OF WOLVES does that. We see wolves throughout. It's in a fairy tale world. It's gorgeous. Somewhere between EXCALIBUR and Disney's Snow White. Also Terence Stamp is Satan in a brief cameo where he wanders into an 18th Century forest in a rolls royce. A man of wealth and taste. 7/

But before that I saw An American Werewolf in London. The werewolf issues crop up here big time. The full moon thing fractures narrative urgency. The monster is waiting for full moon before which we are waiting for the guy to transform. The makeup work by Rick Baker is amazing though. 2/

For Halloween, I decided to examine horror films I had neglected before. Werewolf Cinema. I never liked werewolves. After seeing some werewolf movies, I find my prejudice vindicated. The concept makes for bad stories and weak films. The major exception is Neil Jordan's The Company of Wolves. 1/

Again this is bsky, land of the megablock. He's blocked and megablocked but he somehow takes a scan and kvetches about me and hilariously goes on about me stalking him. When the mere fact that he took these scans proves that he has a second account specifically to stalk me.

It was basically the aftermath of the Kirk thing and the media trying to pretend Kirk wasn’t who he was. So he made anodyne statements at the start and near the end decided it was the right time to make it about him by impugning me. A guy he screwed over by pretending to be his friend.

I hesitated to share these comments by a Zeb Wells Spider-Man defender of repute. I have just learnt they stalk me on Bluesky even after I've banned them. Others shared me some bizarre posts to expose before but I thought fish-in-the-barrel. But magnanimity is wasted on 'em. Kept name off but IYKYK

Like the thing that got him to block me was when he posted this panel of Zeb Wells mocking The Kid Who Collects Spider-Man. Carlos was unironically celebrating it but I saw it and got what the issue was. 10/

Exactly.

That’s a cool cover though i don’t think it’s meant to be Cthulhu. I meant that the ProPublica graphic with the pillars made it look like Cthulhu’s famous tentacle beard. As in Lovecraft’s own drawing.

I remember reading this and wondering if the Ultimate Reed heel turn will be legit. The drama in the series was whether it will be a real heel turn or mind controlled. Like UFF wasn‘t great but he clocked 60 issues as a straight hero. But it worked. Young but he became the Walter White of comics.
