Americans are surprised food prices are high...

They locked up farm workers in concentration camps and put tariffs on imports.

The only surprise should be that they still have any food at all on their grocery store shelves.

#Trump #ICE #groceries #fascism #cdnpoli
Every time I get groceries I am admittedly amazed. The prices just keep climbing especially on the most random shit.

Like bell peppers. What the fuck man. Those shouldn’t be at the price they are now. What the actual hell?

1. The US does not have authority to close airspace outside of its own borders.

2. It's time for NATO to stop being cowards and to step in to put a leash on Trump.

3. Latin American countries should also step up to defend Venezuela.

4. Trump is a ghoul.

As Canadian politicians make decisions to construct more oil pipelines, with 60% support from Canadian citizens, all in the name of "long term benefits for Canada," it is clear that there are no rational actors here.

Yes.

Setting aside the fact we in BC actually care about climate resilience, especially given the onslaught of climate disasters here in recent years...

The Carney-Smith MOU is the opposite of nation building.

#cdnpoli #bcpoli #vanpoli #yyc #yeg
As a political scientist, I think the effects on unity are some of the biggest problems with the agreement. It legitimates "Alberta" as an aggrieved party, distinct from other provinces, while treating BC and its peoples to be as issues to be managed, rather than partners in the federation.
November 28, 2025 at 10:30 PM
On a related note, Alberta will be a have not province in the future.

They will be the recipient of equalisation payments.

Ya know, that program of federal transfers that Alberta has demanded be scrapped.

#cdnpoli #abpoli #ableg #yyc #yeg #bcpoli #vanpoli #ClimateCrisis
Imagine the hole in Alberta’s budget when the price & demand for oil is in long-term decline in 2030s as a result of the energy transition and increased demand for clean energy. Not nostalgia for the past, it’s about winning the future. Just economics, folks.
Alberta faces $6.4-billion deficit as falling oil prices and trade troubles take toll
This year’s budget represents a massive multibillion-dollar swing from an $8.3-billion surplus last year

News media need to STOP framing issues to fit their Conservative agendas.

Only 53% of British Columbians polled say they support an oil pipeline. That's NOT strong support. That's split. We are divided.

Question for Torontonians:
(location of the Liberal base)

Do you understand how upset we are in BC over this oil pipeline MOU?

Follow up question:

Do you even care?

Honest answers only.

#cdnpoli #topoli #bcpoli #vanpoli #ClimateCrisis
Genuinely feels like there's been a coup within the Liberal party thanks to Carney and his bros.

Not to say Trudeau's Liberals were much better (they bought a pipeline!) but Carney is a full-blown red tory and I'm shocked more Liberals aren't outraged their party has been usurped like this.
Super cool that we've got a deal for a path towards a pipeline that's tied to a carbon capture project, as if that makes it okay

when carbon capture one of the most expensive and least effective options for addressing climate change, and oil companies often use it to EXTRACT MORE OIL!!!!

fuck man

Will Torontonians rage about the club using the name "Toronto," like Vancouverites raged over Metro Vancouver's CanPL club being called "Vancouver FC"?

Will TFC supporters continue to call them York, as a diss, like Whitecaps supporters call VFC "Langley FC"?

The Pasquels have been gearing up for this switch for a while as a part of growth plans.

Can anyone tell me what countries Canada imports steel from where we don't have free trade?

Mexico = free trade
Japan = free trade
South Korea = free trade
Lithuania = free trade

Is this just a 25% tariff on China?

Or is Carney including the US?

BC's gov't is doing a review of post secondary education.

This was mainly prompted by the federal gov't reduction in international students, which has caused multiple BC public colleges to shut down campuses this year due to lack of funds.

Two things:

When Americans tell me to mind my own business, I want to riot. The dumb sh*t they do in the US affects us all.

Secondly, any Canadians who buy gas from US-owned Esso are not Elbows Up. It's not only American, it's evil. Stop supporting them.

This isn't a surprising response.

The question is how are we addressing this issue?

The recent federal government budget did little to change this reality. One could argue the corporate subsidies and tax breaks for the wealthy will make the situation worse.

And given Canada's current economic direction to double down on oil extraction, Canada is likely to learn a very tough lesson.

#cdnpoli #Oil #Renewables #energy #abpoli #yyc #yeg #bcpoli
more and more countries are going to see that getting off foreign oil imports is a great reason to accelerate electrification and renewables buildout, regardless of what it means for the climate
The energy transition happens often in unlikely places at unprecedented rates.

Take Nepal: Over the past year, electric vehicles accounted for 76 percent of all passenger vehicles and half of the light commercial vehicles sold in Nepal.

Five years ago, that number was essentially zero.
November 24, 2025 at 11:29 PM
This.

Furthermore, Canada is supposedly building trade relationships with EU countries. They will not appreciate Canada doubling down on oil. The potential losses in trade with the EU are immense.

#cdnpoli #bcpoli #topoli #EU #Oil #ClimateCrisis
Pipelines: $145m year per $1b invested.

Solar & Wind: $180m per year per $1b invested.

Hydro dams: $167m per year per $1 invested.

Geothermal: $160m per year per $1b invested.

If I am private equity why would I invest more money into the loosing industry? Both AB and BC have access to all three.
