Woah there, Max. Let's clarify...

A powerline expansion to BC's north coast was already identified as one of the "major projects."

Avi is alluding to Premier Eby's comments that the federal gov't should focus on the already identified projects (powerline) rather than fictitious oil pipelines.

Wrong. The MOU does not say Alberta has to convince anyone.

It says the must consult. That just means talk.

There is no wording in the MOU that gives BC or First Nations a veto.

Firstly, $40 Billion of our tax dollars says otherwise.

Secondly, private companies may step up given the Carney-Smith MOU has eliminated any opposition.

Thirdly, what's to stop the Cons (if elected federally in next election - seeming more likely every day) or Smith from funding it?

Thank you for saying this.

🎯

Indonesia = "Third World"
(Because brown & muslim)

México = "Third World"
(Because brown & progressive)

vs

Hungary = not "Third World"
(Because white & fascist)

Argentina = not "Third World"
(Because white & fascist)

Also,

Qatar = not "Third World"
(Because they give Trump bribes)

A good whistle interspersed with "La Migra! La Migra!" is how it's done, folks.

How much of this is men going into trades? There's been a severe shortage of tradespeople in the past 5-10 years due to Boomers retiring and a recent push to address that by encouraging young men to choose a trade instead of a profession...

But yes, definitely also boys falling behind, etc.

Just delete the whole country, tbh.

This is a tax on the poor. The odds of winning are astronomical.

If there was a tax on the wealthy, you could all have better services, your income taxes could be lowered, and you wouldn't be so desperate to win the lottery.

Orrr, just continue on with your sh*thole country, I guess.🤷🏽‍♂️

I mean, this type of white supremascist post on US Thanksgiving is somehow appropriate given the colonial origins of US Thanksgiving and such...

The federal government has jurisdiction over infrastructure.

But you're right, First Nations and BC's government are likely to take this to Court if private investors actually step forward.

Not that the Courts are a guarantee for stopping it, either, as we saw with TransMountain.

Does "engage" mean "must agree" or "has a veto"?

No?

Yeah, we've read it, Brandon.

Yeah, that's right, they never found a location in York, did they? York University, in Toronto, was supposed to be temporary but became permanent.

Still, the "York" and the "9" referred to York Region, where they intended to be based.
November 28, 2025 at 12:03 AM
No. The MOU does not require agreement from BC or First Nations. It simply says Alberta and Canada must consult.

Just like TransMountain, this pipeline could be shoved down our throats.

Absolutely. And also:

York is still a place. It's suburbia (not to be confused with the Toronto burrough of York). Although York United moved out of York Region into the City of Toronto quite a while ago, it's true.

The rebuilt NDP should easily be able to craft a platform that resonates with Canadians:

-Climate policy

-Housing construction

-Free uni/trades school and properly funding unis/colleges

-UBI

-Living wage

-Trade with EU, Asia, LatAm

-EU style benefits (5 week vacation, 4 day work week, etc)
