Interesting and kind of cool that @crockett.house.gov has announced her entry into the Democratic primary for Texas' Senate seat. Cool because while the current candidates are all solid people, Crockett brings fire and excitement into a race that would be fantastic to flip from R to D. I donated.

The news media serve as tools of a repressive regime when they highlight nicknames like “Operation Charlotte’s Web” and “Cornhusker Clink” to help Trump market misery.
Every crackdown on immigrants should not be treated as if it’s a new flavor of Ben & Jerry’s.

Anyone who has participated in or attended a naturalization ceremony knows how meaningful and joyous these ceremonies tend to be. The cruelty of this is heartbreaking and enraging.
“She showed up as scheduled, and when she arrived, officers were asking everyone what country they were from, and if they said a certain country, they were told to step out of line and that their oath ceremonies were canceled.”

I was just thinking about contributing to the "charity" Feeding America. Until I discovered that the salary for its CEO, Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, was approximately $949,866 in 2024, with her total compensation being $1,113,502. Apparently, feeding America isn't her top priority.

Bsky doesn't have algorithms suppressing links. There's no reason not to put your book link in the top post of any thread, or to merely say 'link in bio'. Nothing bad happens when you put a book link in your post. All that happens is you spare readers this👇!
Puhlease! Im not hunting it down. Its actually pretty hard to find one particular book out of millions, especially if the title is common (which happens way more than people think) or you have a common name.
WHEN YOU SHARE YOUR BOOK ALWAYS INCLUDE AN ORDER LINK

No jurisdiction should permit these atrocities to exist on land they own or control. There is nothing good that can come of these 'societies'.
Tech elites really are starting their own for-profit cities, supposedly to escape regulation and “failing” democracys.

“While some are aspirational, reliant on their founders securing hard-to-come-by special economic zone status, there are now about 120 “start-up societies” in the works”
I would say this because I edited it but @mshannahmurphy.bsky.social's piece on tech bros founding their own for-profit cities really is unmissable reading www.ft.com/content/b127...

So love wobbegongs. Everything is good about the wobbegong. Its name. Its flattened Oscar the Grouch face. Its frondy bits. Its lazy life as a hungry rug. And it’s a shark. Outstanding animal 10/10
The Tasselled Wobbegong is a master of disguise that can eat a fish almost as big as itself in one gulp. It's classified as a shark, but when it lays on the sea floor it looks like a harmless rug if you manage to see it. But with powerful jaws and sharp teeth they are no fish to mess with.

It's not even just about people blindly trusting what ChatGPT tells them. LLMs are poisoning the entire information ecosystem. You can't even necessarily trust that the citations in a published paper are real (or a search engine's descriptions of them).
