One exciting thing I learned was that you can make a security line RESERVATION at some terminals at JFK and then you get to pop right to the front of the line for free! Why? I have no idea, but I did it and it worked www.jfkairport.com/announcement...

Whoa … this is really strange.

Federal law enforcement managed to confiscate almost two tons of cocaine, and arrest 3 suspects, without blowing the boat out of the water or killing anyone.

What a shame about Notre Dame not making the playoffs...

Oh wait. That's not a shame at all. In fact, I'm delighted.

Here's the reality this example illustrates:

It's not even just about people blindly trusting what ChatGPT tells them. LLMs are poisoning the entire information ecosystem. You can't even necessarily trust that the citations in a published paper are real (or a search engine's descriptions of them).

Don’t forget this is actually what is hiding behind the leadership at Unbound/Boundless protestations of “aw shucks publishing is a risky business market and sometimes when you’re really weally bwave and twy to help authors shit happens but we did our best honest”

Alleged Calculated Malicious Fraud
I said in an interview that I have a lot of empathy for you because you lost your dream, too.

But Unbound's sales reports showing my second book as a flop when it actually sold out its print run was unfathomably cruel. Seeing Ingram's data, showing 10x the sales I was paid for, broke my heart.

Good morning. It's December 7...Pearl Harbor Day.

When I was a kid, it was a huge day, much like 9/11 has been since 2001. I remember clearly the events we had on December 7 on the 20th anniversary (1961--I was 8) both at school and downtown--very solemn and patriotic in the best sense.

It's great that you're actively working, but it was due today by 3:00 so maybe actively work on that instead.

Grr.
