the Platner situation was very funny because it went from "I like that guy, he tells how it is" to "wait a minute back up" instantly. Had people swearing up and down that he was on the level, no Fetterman, etc and then rants about black people and sexual assault victims

The dude's father is a lawyer and his grandfather was an architect/furniture designer prominent enough to have an extensive Wikipedia entry. Which are perfectly honorable things for them to have been, but the "Hardscrabble man of the earth" thing becomes a little untenable.
