Phyllis Schlafly is exactly the correct comparison. Boyle is a mediocre thinker turned culture warrior who rails against the policies that got her where she is. This profile could be clear about what she wants, but at least points that out.

When I served in the majority on the North Carolina Supreme Court, the court held that extreme partisan gerrymandering violated the state constitution. That ruling was rooted in the principle that voters should choose their representatives—not the other way around.

In a pair of new studies, full spectrum cannabis containing 2.5 mg of THC with very small amounts of CBD and CBG (<0.1 mg), outperformed opioids in treating back pain. 🧪

Cannabis works better than opioids for back pain, in two European studies
Millions of Americans use weed to treat chronic pain, but there's little high quality research on whether it works. New findings suggest it can be effective for low back pain, on par with opioids.

Keynesianism is like Ozempic in that it's something that works but makes people mad because they want moral hazard to be involved
There’s a certain kind of person who thinks Keynesian stimulus is “putting off” a necessary correction and I’m always amazed how many of them there are.

When Sam Altman talks about a 1GW AI data centre:
1GW over a month, released instantly, would be an 850 kiloton explosion.
A 1GW AI data centre uses as much energy as detonating ten 1-megaton H-bombs a year.

RFK is undoing human subjects protections so he can conduct placebo trials of vaccines. That means infecting people knowingly. I wonder who will “volunteer” for these trials? If history is any guide, a lot of incarcerated and other powerless people.
Dismantling the Institutional Review Board (IRB), that oversees all human subjects research, is bad. Really bad.

after a clarinet player was arrested at Sunday's ICE protest in downtown Portland, I talked to five artists, crafters and makers - a puppet designer, an illustrator, a graphic designer, a knitter, and a theatre artist - about creativity under fascism

Sadly the current right-wing coalition government in Finland has cut the funding for the nation’s “Housing First” success story, & homelessness is now on the rise again. That just reinforces the fact that such programs work, if political ideology doesn’t stand in the way.
