IQ is a measure of how good you are at IQ tests, which is something informed by how familiar you are with taking academic tests (& thus the quality of your school, which is in part determined by your parents' wealth, etc). there's nothing in particular that makes them a good test of intelligence

it is less humiliating in the moment to tell yourself that you're lazy, that you're on the grift, that if you wanted to you could go sicko mode and prove everyone who looks down on you wrong - than to admit you have severe limitations below the unreasonable bar for the modern workplace
because they sometimes leaned into or exaggerated their level of impairment in order to access services that they needed, but might not’ve been able to access if they’d acted stoic about pain or said “I can sometimes walk short distances” or w/e, they were scamming the govt (or whoever).

as a general rule, resources for disabled people are always insufficient so these systems basically necessitate fraud, as you need to appear more disabled to the system in order to get a a bigger but still insufficient fraction of what you need

I’ve met a few people who claimed to me they were faking disabilities. In every case, it later turned out either that they were lying about “faking” bc they thought it was better to be seen as a bit of a schemer than as someone with (eg) schizophrenia, or that they were really disabled but felt that
