far too many media orgs have been slow to learn that in the age of social media the headline IS the story
"Never spread the lie in the headline" should be a hard rule of 21st century journalism.
Research shows that repeating lies helps to spread them, and people read headlines more than they read stories.

During the November 14 drone strike on Kyiv, 73-year-old Nataliya Khodemchuk was killed. She was the widow of Valery Khodemchuk, the first victim of the Chernobyl disaster. A Russian Shahed drone hit her building, leaving her with severe burns. She died the next morning in hospital.

If this is being annoying, then okay. I'm saying this, too. Our small local metro news publication, @freepressokc.bsky.social , gets out to be there and cover a story. Then, later we see whole stories or photos scraped and shared by automated scrapers. Support the originators of the news.
I know it's just me being annoying, but watch and see who gives credit to the journalists *actually* covering a story and who just writes something — with no sourcing or credit — for engagement. And remember that! Journalism costs money and the people who actually cover things need your support.

if there was a rich person with the will, you could build the most incredible news organization that has ever existed just from the wreckage of this year alone.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.
