Genuinely: Paywalling content is not a thing I love doing. I'd rather create in a world where writers & artists could share our stuff literally freely. The Flytrap is cooperatively owned by its founders, who put in a ton of as-yet unpaid work to produce ALL our content—including one free post/month.

We do have a paywall, and that's because journalism has a cost. We pay all our contributors 0.50c a word & the founders haven't been compensated for the year, so we do ask for people to pay for our content. We still haven't made a profit this year, so we are unapologetic about that.

Most people aren’t asking you mask at all times.

They ask that you mask in essential places: public transit, hospitals, doctors’ offices, pharmacies etc.

Places high risk people can’t avoid.

But if you hate wearing masks? Then advocate for indoor air quality: ventilation, filtration, etc.

yeah, i think a commitment to public health obligates you to get vaccinated and, when you are sick, do what you can to avoid spreading that to other people. the demand that one mask at all times in public spaces is, i think, unreasonable.

Like I would prefer anyone but Collins and Mills too, but I can see the obvious flaws in the slate from here on all sides. There's a weird narrative developing where you don't need to understand the law to write laws and that's not a great sign for 10 years down the line.

There's going to be a lot of factors here, but the fact that he has no college degree and minimal municipal experience are not stacking the odds in his favor with a lot of Maine voters. I suspect they would prefer his resume to include some form of legal experience too.
