I just checked his Twitter feed and plenty on Mamdani and even Norway (!) but not a word about a top conservative podcaster hosting an infamous Holocaust denier.

Greenblatt is beyond parody at this point.

We had two stations in Eugene (sometimes 3 if the antenna was picking up the PBS station) in the pre-cable days. So even the rerun possibilities were sort of limited. Damon's wife was author Kate Wilhelm; along with a couple others, there was an outsized # of Hugo/Nebula winners in a town that size.

When I was a teenager, I hung out at Damon Knight's house with one of his kids, who was in my D&D group but I'd only ever heard about that episode because it aired before I was born and at the time (less then 20 years later) VCRs still weren't a big thing.

Pretty sure Gondor had farmers and all the other accoutrements of a country that needed food. As anyone who knows any history understands, some of those shirepeople become the 'hard' defenders of their land when needed. That's what happens in every major war.

/3 Notice also how thankfully Heritage accepts the gift that people like Ezra Klein give them: if you can frame bigotry as a “debate,” if it’s done in a friendly chat or a podcast or some other stylized forum, then it’s just uncouth and intolerant to call it out. Works out swell for bigots.
