34 trenches, 2 kilometres long filled with bodies. As these were dug up and potentially tens of thousands of corpses reburied, the Assad regime was being interviewed in Western media outlets, his English skills mattering more than anything he was doing.
tbf, they do charge for professional-level features but they definitely don't trick teenagers into "free" subscriptions with $200 exit fees
You mean to say that you didn't watch Morbius?
Amazing that Adobe went from being a cool company that made great imaging tools to a bunch of scammers that use dark patterns to suck people into software rental contracts with punitive exit fees

This is now more than double the NASA budget, which the White House wants to slash.
BREAKING: The Trump administration is doubling its Argentina bailout to $40 billion.
It will never stop being (grimly) hilarious that all the worst people in tech were so all in on something that was obviously a fad scam

The Ents have finally accepted that the Entwives are gone for good and are … branching out

(Ron Perlman voice) "War. War never changes..."
the boys who landed at Normandy or fought in Stalingrad couldn't have imagined the horrors of 21st century war

probably nobody, it's probably in the pre-prompt because in A/B testing it made LLM more a few percent more ✨engaging✨

In 2004, Parisian police were conducting a training exercise in the french catacombs and found, after moving past a desk and a tape playing audio of snarling dogs, a fully functional movie theater and bar. When they returned 3 days later, the equipment was gone, with a note: “Do not try to find us.”
Members of the force's sports squad, responsible
- among other tasks - for policing the 170 miles of tunnels, caves, galleries and catacombs that underlie large parts of Paris, stumbled on the complex while on a training exercise beneath the Palais de Chaillot, across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower.
After entering the network through a drain next to the Trocadero, the officers came across a tarpaulin marked: Building site, No access.
Behind that, a tunnel held a desk and a closed-circuit TV camera set to automatically record images of anyone passing. The mechanism also triggered a tape of dogs barking, "clearly designed to frighten people off," the spokesman said.
Further along, the tunnel opened into a vast 400 sq metre cave some 18m underground, "like an underground amphitheatre, with terraces cut into the rock and chairs". There the police found a full-sized cinema screen, projection equipment, and tapes of a wide variety of films, including 1950s film noir classics and more recent thrillers. None of the films were banned or even offensive, the spokesman said.
A smaller cave next door had been turned into an informal restaurant and bar. "There were bottles of whisky and other spirits behind a bar, tables and chairs, a pressure-cooker for making couscous," the spokesman said.
"The whole thing ran off a professionally installed electricity system and there were at least three phone lines down there."
Three days later, when the police returned accompanied by experts from the French electricity board to see where the power was coming from, the phone and electricity lines had been cut and a note was lying in the middle of the floor: "Do not," it said, "try to find us."

Reading Thiel, Yarvin, Peterson et al. makes you realise what passes for intellectual iconoclasm these days is all absolute bollocks. Why anyone gives any of these people the time of day let alone credibility is baffling.

I thought at first this was about Framework giving free devices for device compat testing to Omarchy, as they would any other Linux distro.

This appears to go FAR FAR FAR beyond that.
The Framework forums thread got insanely unwieldy, so I wrote up a (somewhat shorter) summary post of the situation

The U.S. Chemical Safety Board — the agency that investigates chemical explosions to prevent future disasters — is shut down and may soon be eliminated entirely.

Scientists who study chemical disasters say this dangerous move will save the federal government a mere $14 million.
Refinery fires, other chemical disasters may no longer get safety investigations
Because of the federal government shutdown and proposed budget, key federal investigations may stop, including into what happened at a Chevron refinery in California in October 2025.
