You have to love people in need more than you hate the other side, even when the other side is full of malice. You have to want progress more than you want vindication of a world view or the intoxication of self-righteousness. Otherwise, it's not activism--just ego.

I can't scream loudly enough that the people leading HHS right now are liars. RFK Jr. Marty Makary. Vinay Prasad. They are liars. And the lies they are telling are the lies eugenicists like themselves tell.
NEW: The F.D.A. announced in an internal memo that 10 children died "because of" the Covid shot. Other experts want to see proof.

“This is a profound revelation,” Dr. Prasad's memo said. “For the first time, the U.S. F.D.A. will acknowledge that Covid-19 vaccines have killed American children.”

the invasion of Afghanistan is among the most horrific recent chapters of the long history of elite impunity in the US. this coda is grim but fitting - the govt practically explicitly affirming that it should only be Afghans who live with the consequences amid fading public memory of the atrocity
It didn’t even take 6 hours.

2 years ago I left my job not knowing what was next. I started contracting to pay bills during my job search. Reached the final stage of an intvw process I knew would lead to an offer and withdrew, following a gut instinct that it wasn't the right move. 1/4

The thing about LLMs is that they are a genuine accomplishment with a lot of potential. But instead of saying, "hey look at this cool thing we built" tech bros insist they've built a superhuman godlet that can replace all human ingenuity while also being your girlfriend and doing your homework. 1/2

People need food. Market won’t provide it. Government should. It’s literally the whole point.
Turns out Mamdani's controversial proposal for government-run supermarkets isn't so novel. Other cities also are toying with the idea to bring fresh, affordable food to communities that do not have easy access to it. Good WSJ read (gift link)

Personally, I'd like him to focus more on keeping planes in the sky and out of each other's way
Sean Duffy, the U.S. transportation secretary, has been urging people for the past week to dress and comport themselves better as a way of restoring “civility” to air travel. On Tuesday, he added another item to his list of concerns: the quality of the snacks handed out on commercial flights.

Sean Duffy, who has been promoting greater decorum among air travelers, said he would like to see choices besides salty pretzels and buttery cookies.

I've seen people say that getting attached to ChatGPT is like "believing the stripper really loves you", but that's not true. It's more like believing that the dryer personally composed that little jingle on a lonely sockless night just to win your affections.

This is a despotic move I could get behind
I’m so sorry Michael Shannon but you have to play John Brown
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

There are 50,000 food insecure children in Maine and 2 trans athletes. Every single candidate running for office who can drum up concern about the latter but has nothing to say about the former is telling on themselves. They don’t care about children. Only power. And they’ll hurt kids for it.
25 Nov 2025 @rikiwilchins.bsky.social -- In unusual move, Sen Susan Collins (R-ME) signs petition for referendum on the 2026 ballot that would bar trans students from sports teams, locker-rooms and bathrooms. She's in a hotly contested election & this is pbly one way to increase Rep turnout.
