Politico, fawning over Trump, casually drops that we might be going to war with our NATO ally Denmark to seize Greenland, like winning with 49.9% of the vote somehow gave Trump “a mandate” to pursue truly deranged military explanation he announced post-election

I’m just going to say that AOC is the acting leader of the Democratic Party until someone proves otherwise. At least insofar as she is responding to the moment with leadership.

This is almost such an obvious point, it feels slightly crazy to point it out, but a politician winning a national election does not mean that the criticisms of that politician were wrong. Nixon and Bush both go reelected and everything their most unsparing critics said about them was right.

This comment from a right winger coming to some realizations nails it. Too bad they didn't care until they realized no one was safe, including "their side."

“Virtue signaling” remains one of the most pernicious concepts to gain popular purchase. The whole premise of the concept leans on the idea no one actually cares about anyone aside from themselves.

RIP Jimmy Carter
Breaking news: Jimmy Carter, a no-frills and steel-willed Southern governor who was elected president in 1976, died Sunday at his home in Plains, Georgia, according to his son. He was 100 and the oldest living U.S. president of all time.
Jimmy Carter, 39th president and Nobel Peace Prize winner, dies at 100, his son says
The tenacious Southerner was turned out of office after one term. But he had a brilliant post-presidential career as a champion of health, peace and democracy.

CNN is hopelessly broken.

1. This "expansion" would require military invasions of several allies in violation of international law.
2. It would violate several treaties.
3. The Louisiana Purchase was the sale of land by a colonial power (France). These are sovereign nations.

My most controversial take about the 2024 election is that Trump voters are adults with agency who made a voluntary choice, and most backed him because they saw what he offers and like it.
It is basically impossible to hold a logically coherent conversation about the 2024 US presidential election using the rules of media approved discourse due to holding voters responsible for anything being forbidden.
The 🇺🇸 voter/consumer, so angry about & Suffering From Inflation™️ that she is breaking all holiday spending & travel records, consuming 14% more in real terms than in 2019, & sitting on tens of billions of dollars in unused gift card balances. Those eggs, though.

part of the reason conservatives support restrictions on immigration is that keeping immigrants illegal and underground makes them easier to exploit, and puts more downward pressure on wages of American workers who compete with them for work.
Uline, "a company owned by two of Donald Trump’s top mega-donors, has routinely brought dozens of its workers from Mexico to staff its warehouses in Wisconsin and other locations even though they do not appear to have permission to work in the US, according to a Guardian investigation."
Major Trump donors who complained of immigrant ‘invasion’ used Mexican workers illegally, sources allege
Exclusive: Experts believe the alleged ‘shuttle support’ program used by Uline – a company owned by billionaires Liz and Dick Uihlein – is likely illegal and exploitative of workers

What the Post Office does is nearly miraculous, yet the American population can probably be easily convinced it's terrible. Our collective narcissism, selfishness and ignorance will be harnessed by bad faith actors to make a single lost package seem like an indictment of the system as a whole.

this is exactly how the german right claimed every crime in the nation was the fault of jewish people. this is literally how they built the argument for the holocaust. this is not hyperbole.
I honestly don't even know what to do with this anymore. The baseless narrative that every mass shooter is trans is completely solidified on the online right. It's completely memeified. No amount of fact checking breaks through. It's so incredibly dangerous at this moment.

Instead of choosing the telegenic young fighter to battle the reality TV President in House hearings, Democrats have opted for a guy who might drop dead at any second. Their response to this election has me more disillusioned with them than at any point in 25 years. Complete impotence.
